If that's true, it's utterly disgusting.

I'm rapidly falling out of love with top level football.

Have no interest in internationals and the EPL is fked thanks to city and Chelsea and now united.
Interesting thought. No one thought the Moores were ruining football when they were bankrolling a certain club in the 70s and 80s. If ever there was an era of a sugar daddy then that was it.

I don't think football is ruined at all. Much the same as in F1, commercialism and globalisation has just grown it very fast in very short time. It won't implode, it will just result in a levelling off of revenues through TV. If you really want to see football go stratospheric then watch what happens if it takes off in the US. This era will be a spendthrift in comparison. Then there is FFP ( which , coincidentally, Chelsea and ManU have met in the last 2 years but some other club which shall remain nameless didn't).

Don't be so negative. Embrace it smile

Just goes to show that lining your pockets is more important than actually playing the game, to footballers today.

Pair of wkers.
Lining your pockets is the aim of any form of employment. Anyone who thinks a footballer should be different to any other profession is deluded,
So if they are not going to get anywhere near Liverpool's first team, what are they doing for their money?

Most people actually have to do their job, in order to be paid.

If you wish to embrace the era of £300K+ a week, be my guest.

I think it's hideous.

Fair point. I guess what a footballer does for a living is open to interpretation considering they train for 30 hours a week and only play for 90 minutes, But a footballers earning window is very short ( and let's face it, the way the game is these days , they get signed up at 14 and don't really see school again so their earning potential after that is small. Very few go on to make anywhere near the same money afterwards )

I understand what you are saying but the money will either go to the players or the owners.

Unless we make it a controlled industry and say it needs to be on free to air TV, a fiver a ticket and free sausage rolls
And a tenner for a shirt, with no pink boots.

The wages are an issue, I have to agree ( and FFP is supposed to tackle this too) . But look at US games and F1 . It's just the way it is. Nothing we can do but ride along on the wave.

But making a 40-50m profit on a player is fine and dandy?

Hang on a minute go back a few pages on here and everyone on here is bragging about getting mad Mario for a mere £16m..... Ignoring of course that he's being paid circa 200k a week.

True, but it's gone too far now.

For their £300k+ a week United have got themselves a player that will fk off in a heartbeat, when Real can be bothered to sign him.

Does that amount of money not buy a shred of loyalty?

Top players will earn big wages where ever they go. Issue is the average prem player picking up 20k-50k per week. They are stuck as no-one outside the prem in Europe has the same finances as the EPL and therefore they get unrealistic demand big money, and clubs will go and sign someone from Europe for cheaper.

Loyalty is a two way street - i don't think there has been any evidence that any CLUB is loyal.

Oooooooor

Utd have loaned Hernandez and are likely to sell Wellbeck for 16m. Pretty much covering the Falcao deal.

But Falcao isn't yours. Never will be. He's using you as a stop gap to suit his own ends.

I would be unhappy if my club were being used like that and paying £300K+ a week for the privilege.

As for £16M for Welbeck, well that proves that football has lost its marbles better I ever could!

You understand it's a loan with an option to buy?

I agree GG.

Additionally, the massive investment by some billionaires is making a mockery of the game. You are lucky enough to support one of the 'chosen' clubs that has attracted reasonably big investment, yet still City and Chelsea are leagues ahead in terms of money.

Clubs used to be big because of their fan base, their management, their success. Now it's because of foreign money. Even United and Arsenal are struggling to compete.

And the most expensive players are earning in a day what an honest man earns in a year, or more. Quite sick.

Good luck with that.

He's got a hard on for Real.

The whole world knows it.
