How the fk have we just drawn with that pile of ste. We stopped playing at 1-0, crazy

Woeful again in attack, big issues i'm afraid
I don't think they are that st.

And we very very nearly closed out a game for the first time in eons.

Jagielka won't do that for the rest of his career.

Still lots to do though.

Stunning shot from Jags, worthy of a punt at goal of the month.

Not the best game, neither team looking like top five sides to be honest.

I agree, pretty rubbish Derby, a draw a fair result.

But never mind, let's hope the afternoon gets better.

Everything that has been said before still applies after this game. Suarez carried the manager last season, as every game goes by this is more and more clear for everyone to see. We look like a mid table outfit that will be lucky to finish anywhere near top 4.

There is no way you'd look at the 2 teams out there today and be able to tell who spent 120 million in the summer.

Caught bits of the game.

Balo played better, deserved a goal - needs to do that consistently and improve. Will do much better with Sturridge - he's too easy to defend against as a line striker. Balo isn't a line striker so I'm holding off until he's got a partner.

Better performance but still lacking the movement of last season - even without Suarez we used to create havoc, not happened yet. When it does Balo will produce with the space he's given.

Defence looked better but still too easy to get behind.

Still questions over mental prep of players - performed better against Everton and spurs and crap against west ham etc... Needs to be sorted.

Relationships on field with new players clearly missing, will improve.

Long way to go but not writing off this season yet. I do have some fear about getting into top4 but early days.

It is very clear that this was a much better performance than against West Ham.

It's your opinion - and one that you are entitled to hold and express, but don't present it as fact.

Good post, well balanced smile

Markovic is either playing well out of position, or he's not going to be good enough for us. He just hid, tight on the right all the way through the 1st half?

I still think things will pick up for us, although it looks like Chelsea will run away with the league, with maybe Man City giving chase.

The issue I have with putting last season on to the Suarez effect is that last season with or without Suarez the other players - Hendo, Sterling, Sturridge, Coutinho etc etc all played with such movement, speed and inventiveness that it was fantastic to watch.

Yet this season the team just isn't moving, isn't being creative it's very static and terrible to watch. Some of this will be Suarez not creating space but even so as a front four or five it was something to watch last season and Rodgers has to be given credit for that - this season very little as yet. I just can't understand why we're not even attempting to play like last year at the moment.

I'll give Rodgers benefit of the doubt for now and hope the new players bed into the system.

For what it's worth I'm not his biggest fan, hate his Brentesque moments and am unconvinced he'll be a champions league standard manager but he created a special team last year so he deserves more time.

All in my opinion smile

Does that include your opinion of Gerrard, who you said was mentally shot?

Can't wait for Sturridge to be back.
Season relying on him staying fit.

That's very poor by you. What I said is there in its entirety.

The points on the table are facts I'm afraid. And even if someone wants to believe otherwise there is nothing to suggest that we're playing any better.

I really think the movement of the front two from last season is what is missing this season. They created gaps in the opposition defence which allowed for our high pressing game. Now our high pressing game fizzles out because those gaps are not being created. Balotelli and Lambert aren't those types of players. Sturridge does it to an extent but we are missing that extra forward that can create even more space by running rings around the oppositions defence. Sanchez would have been a decent replacement for Suarez as they are similar in style.

It is going to be a long, hard season in my opinion.

Was chatting after the game about Laser, ok he is off his game but what does he have ? looking at every time he has played he looks lost and in over his head.

So question is with all the sports science guys, the scouts and analysts and the likes of Opta how has Bren signed another donkey?

There's nothing about him to suggest he is a 20 million pound player. How he got a start today I'll never know.

He was completely anonymous today and was the last time he played. Ballotelli really annoyed me today with his sulky altitude and his tendency to just throw himself on the floor. How he didn't get his head on more is cross in the first half I don't know!
