Personally I think Balo is a huge mistake.
I don't think he has the desire needed,he seems to lose all interest in the game at times especially when things aren't going his way.
I really do hope I am proved wrong but at the moment he is my big concern.
I'm of the opposite opinion completely.I don't think he has the desire needed,he seems to lose all interest in the game at times especially when things aren't going his way.

I love a single minded striker, and he is getting the chances for sure.
Once he gets going there will be no stopping him imo

I wouldn't say he's getting the chances tbh. He had a lot of shots against Everton but that was because he was taking shots from stupid distances. I love a single minded striker, and he is getting the chances for sure.

I mentioned Henderson because you slated him endlessly and he's now a mainstay of the team.
He was also the same money.
If you want a player in a similar position, how about Lamela? He disappeared without trace last season but seems to be coming good now.
Downing was never worth what we paid for him. Every Liverpool fan on earth agrees on that.
Laser has been a fan favourite at every club he's played at, there's a reason for that, so let him find his feet and hopefully he will come good.

Downing was bought as a 20 million pound winger, I don't remember many people complaining at the time. Lazer was bought as a 20 million pound winger. If he succeeds then great, I can only comment on what I've seen and I'd rather he gets up to speed by starting against Swansea in the Carling Cup than the likes of Real in the Champions League. I'd have expected a 20 million pound player to be showing more than he is. As to whether he's capable, I've no idea.
As for players I've slated endlessly, really? I don't see any slating of Lazer by anyone on here. And if you want to bring up 2 seasons ago where I did slate Henderson, you'll also find that I slated a number of other players and a manager that now no longer feature at the highest level, if at all.

The best bit about his game in a red shirt is his hold up play and ability to find an extra bit of space with the ball to get a shot off. I'd rather he did this in or around the penalty box and not from the positions he was doing it against Everton. He needs a 2nd striker next to him to be in any way effective. I think we all can see that.
I only ever followed his off pitch madness at City. Is Mario a 20 league goal striker and if he is under what conditions?

Did you watch him sat? I brought up more than most his work rate on his first game but credit where it's due his workfare and tracking back on sat was 1000% betterI don't think he has the desire needed,he seems to lose all interest in the game at times especially when things aren't going his way.

Give the guy credit when it's due

I'm very tired and it was a while ago, but I thought both Downing and Henderson were bought for around the £18-20m mark, depending on which paper/article you read?
Wasn't Hendo 16 plus add ons? Dunno. I had no opinion of him prior but since he arrived his work rate has always been tremendous. Was very easy to see he'd grow to be a player. Downing on the other hand, well, can't remember anyone putting out the bunting when he signed especially for such an extortionate fee at his age.
Another Brenton moment. Did anyone really witness an excellent performance of intensity, pressure and passing?
“It was just that final ball, we couldn’t quite get that second goal,” said the Liverpool manager. “If you take away the last 90 seconds of the game we are talking about an excellent performance of intensity, pressure and passing with counter-attacking football. I’m not going to let one absolute once-in-a-lifetime strike cloud that – but we will be judged on that because it is one all.”
Meanwhile, what every other manager now knows
"Martínez summed up the difference between the Liverpool team that inflicted a 4-0 defeat on Everton in January and the present in cutting fashion. “It is easy to say – Luis Suárez was a player on form,” he said. “Now you have a very strong squad and it takes time and it needs to gel together. The difference back then was that everyone knew Liverpool were very dynamic and any time you left yourself two v one against Suárez you were in trouble. That is not there any more and that is a big difference.”
More worryingly I read that Sakho walked out after not being in the starting 11.

The most worrying thing at the moment is that a lot of fans are pinning our hopes on DS coming back to full fitness, as if he's some messiah. After spending £120m in the summer our hopes rest on a £12m signing who had a good year linking up with the in form striker of last season.
Now obviously i'm looking forward to having him back as the next fan as he brings much needed pace & movement to the front line, but what the hell happened in the background to let us get into this ludicrous situation? Not having another mobile striker in the squad is costing us big time.

Too much negativity chaps, calm down for 6 days - Basle and WBA will tell us where we are at its not long to wait. We tore Spurs a new one last month with DS and whilst he is not the messiah (and is not a very naughty boy) he may be the missing link that Bren (keep fit guru to he stars) can learn from once its working again. Its possible Borini can be trained to be a Studge light (runs, position, moves) but maybe I need a coffee.
Saturday 4.45 and I will be happy or flappy - not sure which.

Sturridge has still be great when Suarez has been out. Not sure what his transfer fee has to do with much either. Is Sterling only a £500k player? Problem is that we have Balo now, so we best start hoping he comes good. Not sure who else we could have got, bar Remy. It's clear now that we are still right at our limits of spending, which I imagine ruled out moves for Falcao, Cavani, Di Maria, et al.

Being at the game I thought our intensity and pressin was very good ! I didn't think for 1 minute they deserved a point the game ! Didn't feel threatened through the game ! Passing was a lot better than it had been, we looked better when Coutinho came on too ! “It was just that final ball, we couldn’t quite get that second goal,” said the Liverpool manager. “If you take away the last 90 seconds of the game we are talking about an excellent performance of intensity, pressure and passing with counter-attacking football. Only my opinion though !
Stop going about Suarez too, any team in the world would miss him! Were it just missing him though are we , we are missing others whilst bedding in 4-5 new players, did you really expect same fluidity with practically 50% new players? Madness if so

Sye, I wasn't going on about Suarez. It was Martinez who was making the point.
