Quite. Isn't it Ayre's job to get the deal done?
Well documented that BR has the final say.
In who we buy yes, but going and getting that player is Ayre's job.

I find it ridiculous that 3 of our 4 strikers are fit and there's a conversation about playing without a striker. Obviously questions will be asked if he decides not one of his three fit strikers are good enough to start.
This is a very valid point. He will be heavily scrutinised by the media if he does not play one (or more!) of the 3 strikers. But BR doesn't tinker his formations too much and my guess is he will probably start Borini. Balotelli will be dropped Hendo Gerrard and his favourite for these types of situations, Joe Allen, sitting behind Sterling and Couthinho and Borini up front.

Tempted as I might, I simply don't see BR playing Sterling in the false number 9 role up front. It is too much of a risk, especially on a big night.

Whilst I'd happily play Coutinho as a false 9 and not have a striker start tomorrow night, perhaps not unsurprisingly, I think this would be a clear example of BRs ineptitude in bringing in a fit for purpose striker. You can't have 3 of your 4 available strikers fit and not play 1.
You really do hate BR don't you?
He's not wrong though is he? 3 strikers fit all bought by this manager and he doesn't play with any? were that to happen it would be a damning indictment of the pool of strikers that HE has put together.

Oh goody - can you fax me the teamsheet over because I haven't seen it yet.

Cheers.

RT is right in that it ridiculous we have 2 strikers (50%) who he really does not trust -
Balotelli not sure if he falls into that just yet, but potentially soon will

If Origi really can be got in Jan, we need to pull out all the stops

Sods law of football says Balo will score a hatrick - he has to play at least 60 mins

I see you're still struggling with long sentences.

For clarity after the quote you cut to suit your agenda the words 'were that to happen' followed.

You're welcome.

Don't tell me disappoint, tell Jamie Carragher they are his comments.

Indeed smile

I think that it is fair to suggest that Borini and Lambert should have had more game time over the last couple of months, but the constant downer on BR depresses me on this forum.

I think the real loser in this little debate is Grandma Grammar.

I reckon even if he won the treble this year, you'd still find a way of praising everyone but him...

I'm not sure where you see the hatred here. The same would apply to any manager in any team.
Valid points there RT, comes across bit of a shambles really doesn't it? I think Borini will start, simply because of work rate. We cannot afford anyone not pulling their weight tmrw night. Whilst Mario has improved considerably his work rate it's no where near high enough for a game v Madrid. I'll take 1-1 inevitable Ronaldo will score, ours will come from......Henderson.

It will only be a "shambles" IF it happens. Same as it'll be a "shambles" IF BR decides to play with no defenders and 9 midfielders - just because the defence has been a bit wky.

I'd welcome Sterling up front, as it goes. Suggested it before the season started (and before we signed Balotelli) and I see no reason to change my mind.

He would need more like 600 minutes.

Re Sterling, are we missing the fact that he really doesn't score many goals? I think Coutinho has a better shot/eye for goal tbh.

When Gerrard got moved back into a deep position in the second half, I think this was about the lack of cover provided by Cann rather than Gerrard not doing a job in attacking midfield. I'd like to see Allen and Henderson sit back and Gerrard continue to play in the attacking position. Put Sterling and Lallana either side and take your pick from any one of our 3 strikers. Bring on Coutinho as an impact sub.

Mario is 1/1 in champions league games, he's going to start.

We need energy in midfield, I imagine we'll be seeing both Allen & Henderson.

Can't wait

Dont really see the positive to Sterling playing up front whether Carra has said it or not -

What is his main strength - having space to run into and beat a man

Being the last man will nullify so much of this - which is why I said SG as the last man .

Fully agree (shudders). I thought the same about Allen, Henderson and Gerrard after the QPR game.
