It's simple. Liverpool's defence need better coaching and we need a more commanding goalkeeper, one the players trust. Carragher/Hyppia should be recurited to kick some butts and show them how it is done. Skrtel is still holding on to players shirts FFS. What does Rodgers do on the training pitch? Get it drilled out of him. It is not rocket science.

Weren't too far from me then, just to left of goal, 32 rows up (block 104).

Not sure we can say Lambert is a failure yet. He was a great asset to Southampton last year when they were playing with a very similar style to us. He could be a very useful player to us too. IF he gets used. If not, it will be a waste of 4m,but that won't be Lamberts fault what so ever.
I tried to txt you in there but kept bouncing, you never get a signal or 3G in Anfield

Lambert is not our answer either - I agree he is a useful player and he is better than Mario for me - but to lose Suarez and have Ricky as your main option when DS is injured is poor.

We really need to say to Lille here is 6m have it, we want Origi in Jan.

I thought the Liverpool Echo article was rubbish: in summary the defence needs to start defending better. N.S.S!

It does look like it is a coaching problem. Lovren was great in his first two or three matches, now it seems he's had that drilled out of him and he's just as poor add the rest of them.

And my god we need to drop Johnson. Don't think he beat his man once last night and got past by far too easily.

Origi is playing against Everton tonight isn't he? Will be interesting to see how he gets on.

When Mignolet was at Sunderland he got all the plaudits simply because he was making so many saves - in 2012/13 he made 155 saves and conceded 54 goals, last year 108 saves and 50 goals conceded. So of course he looks like a fantastic goalkeeper when he is winning matches by making so many saves, unfortunately no-one took any notice of the other attributes like distribution and dealing with crosses heherolleyes

Yea, I had problems with signal and then my battery died.

I think Lambert could work well in our team, not the answer as you say but we always play better with two up front, he is that second man.

Not sure Origi is the answer either though, from what I've seen of him his final product still needs a lot of work?!

There is no harm in Liverpool admitting they are not in the same financial comfort zone as their rivals, but the perception they like to give is they can compete with anyone for the most coveted players.
Er, obviously not. Otherwise the likes of Cesc and Costa would be playing here instead of Can and Borini.

telegraph said:
Every transfer window proves that is not the case and for Liverpool's scouts to believe they can pick up bargains their rivals have not spotted smacks of arrogance.
My exact point. I have always said buy potential but you must surround that potential by bringing in 2 world class talents. You bring in 8 horse apples, 7 most likely will actually be turds.

Real Madrid as good a team to have visited Anfield in the last 25 years. It was no disgrace losing, but many of the problems worth highlighting were there when Liverpool were playing extraordinarily well last season. They have been more apparent and damaging during the last few weeks.
Indeed.

Cracking article. I think any one of us would struggle to disagree with any of that.

I can understand the wisdom of putting 1 striker up front against Real. And also taking off the striker when 0-3 down. But for every other match - we have 3 fit strikers, FFS play 2 of them together and cause the opposing defence some problems... At the moment, we're witless at the back and toothless up front.

I have never know a thread where there is so much ste discussed. Each and every one of you think you are an expert in analysis of each and every game that Liverpool play. Page after page of excuses what went wrong this is how he should put it right bla bla bla. Just get over it Liverpool are in big trouble with a manager who in the CL is out of his depth. SG once a great player is now totally inept. The defense seems to go AWOL every set piece. IAnfield is not the fortress it once was. Get used to it not going to get better anytime soon

he is obsessed with Liverpool, he even talks to himself about us in the 'peoples club thread'

leave him to it, if they beat us at Goodison that's his season complete

Rodgers: "Mario is working hard on the training field. As long as he;s doing his best that;s all I can ask for...."
Whether Mario's best is good enough longer term, that remains to be seen." - Brendan Rodgers

Rickie Lambert knew he wasn’t going to be a regular starter. He recognises the role he had to come in."
BR: "He is playing that role in training every day and he's waiting for his chance. We put Raheem up front as needed speed and mobility.

Simple balls into the box we're not defending. We need to reinforce those key principles." - Brendan Rodgers on Liverpool's set-pieces

"Whether Mario's best is good enough remains to be seen" how about using him properly. And use Markovic properly while you're at it.

BR: "We haven't been as fluent or effective but we're working hard to master that. When Sturridge plays it opens up space for others."

BR: "Was Mario playing centre-half? He's been a wee bit of a victim. Last night should have been a great night despite the result."

Rodgers: "Mario is treated like any other player. We're very much about the team. My only concentration is on winning games."
2:13 PM - 23 Oct 2014

BR: "Raheem has played as a striker as a youngster so he understands the position well. If we feel it helps team, I can look at it."

BR: "I will consider Raheem as a striker in the future."
