He (Berahino) didn't have a bad season last year either. Plus he's young. He maybe flavour of the month but he is looking good.

Maybe Tony got lucky last night? With Gaz?

If a manager knew that he'd have 200 million to spend over a few windows and also manage a team with our history there'd be a queue for the job.

All speculation anyway, BR will be here till the summer. The only likelihood of him being sacked is if we bomb out of the Champions League and fail to qualify next season.

The football we are playing is similar to Rafa's last season with us where he just seemed clueless.

No chance in hell Rodgers would be sacked this season. Even if we finished 6th with and no trophys.

That's your opinion. Trophyless and 6th, I think he'll be at cash convertor.

Trophyless and 6th I'd say he'll be given 6 months to turn things around.

But then that's a very black and white way of looking at it. I think if nothing improves then he could well be gone in the summer. If performances get worse he could be gone in January.

Grim....as an Arsenal and a Liverpool fan.

The parallels with Rogers and AVB are strong....both inherited teams which happened to have one of the best players in the world in it. Both when that player has been sold have struggled massively to re-invest that money to strengthen the squad.

I don't think Rogers is going anywhere soon but a finish outside the Top 4 and I reckon next summer might see him out of the door.

I think people continue to underestimate the impact of the absence of Sturridge.

At the other end of the pitch the defensive frailties are being exacerbated by the fact we're not scoring three in the first half every week. Fair to say there's still room for improvement.

Wasn't sturridge in the team when we started the season really poorly? The fact is we've played well only once this season and our form shows absolutely no sign of improving.

We are missing the two highest goal scorers, and highest assisting player of last season, why are people missing this simple fact? Out defence hasn't got any worse, it was bad last season as well. Without the movement up front our midfield has no chance of finding through balls & shooting chances.

We need another striker & Sturridge back, it's that simple. Oh, and a defensive coach....

I think he'd be given another season. Or atleast till Christmas 2015. If we haven't improved defensively by then then I don't know what as a club our best option would be.

Swansea tomorrow. I've got a ticket but might have to give it up. Hopefully see Borini get given a game.
Borini Balotelli tomorrow
Borini Lambert Saturday against Newcastle
Lambert Balotelli against Madrid

Played the first game against a very good Southampton. He scored but admittedly they could have had a couple of goals. They tore our defence apart a few times.

Man City he played. Lovren/Moreno defensive error and Jovetic brilliant goal which our defence had no chance to deal with as it was a different class of attack.

Tottenham he played. We tonked them.

I await his return with anticipation.

Shhh you, it's the only thing we've got this season so far!

We're worse all over the park. Up front we've not been helped by Sturridge being out injured all the time, nor by Balo being crap. In the middle, we've not pressed, we've not played a high tempo, we've not passed the ball around well enough. At the back it's the same old story.

I think we need to choose an XI and stick with them. Definitely keep Lambert in the side, but whoever BR chooses to partner him tomorrow, that's who we go with on Sat and against Real too. We still at the start of the season, we don't need to rotate yet and we need to get the team gelling with each other. Same with the back four.

Ultimately I think we'll have a much better idea of how this season is going by Christmas. Although God help us if Sturridge isn't fit well before then... I know its not "just Sturridge being absent" but hopefully by Christmas all the new signings (who weren't really meant to all be thrown in together at the same time but unfortunately have been) will have bedded in and know what they're meant to be doing...

In the meantime, I'm watching every game from behind the sofa.

We may have a killer strike force in Borini and Lambo or Lambo and Balo but Bren gets to see them in training and I would like to think he knows they wont work however my cynical side says he doesn't.

We don't actually know our best 11 with Studge out as we are not playing it and if we make a positive change we counter that with a negative (Cout out?)

I think Bren has managed the side terribly this season, anyone can make slow or duff signings but the way the team has been set up and picked leaves a lot to be desired and after three seasons is he really learning about us? He knew about CL implications and has a huge back room staff but blames training field time restrictions which is a bit pathetic and straw clutching.

He wont get in any help to organise the defence, he hasn't sacked any coaches as far as I know and I suspect we will go out on Tuesday to lose so we have more training field time - I think he has made himself a nice canoe, paddled up st creek and wont manage himself out of the decline, how far we decline whilst this happens is a worry.

I think we're close to knowing our strongest XI, but the formation is still wildly up in the air.

It's obvious we have to play two up front. But then how do we do that and keep both Sterling and Coutinho on the pitch? If we play either Sterling or Coutinho on either side of a diamond then it leaves the side unbalanced and ultimately drops Gerrard to deep lying playmaker where he isn't effective defensively.
