If Allen is the Welsh Xavi does that make Balotelli the Italian Carroll?

Shame I've not seen anything of what Suarez describes this season, one player leaving (regardless of who he is) shouldn't stop us playing the way Suarez describes. Maybe the envelopes have made a come back.

Indeed!

The only hope for Balo is that when he plays with DS then that early promise we saw against Spurs comes true. But what a mess to be in, one striker who is sadly gets injured all the time, Balo who then can't play on his own or without DS, Lambert who is mean as an impact sub. I don't include Borini as clearly he heads for the exit. I would maybe give young wilson a go tonight.

No, Balotelli is the Senegalese Diouf! laugh

Losing Suarez I think has had a psychological impact with the team more than anything else. Losing the star talisman is deflating, demotivating almost. No one in the team looks like scoring and I include Sterling in that, he certainly isn't prolific and maybe in a couple of years that will come. The midfield need to practice striking a lot nore - If Couthinho, Henderson, Sterling each contributed 10 league goals a season we would be in a much better position. Time for them to step up.

The article is interesting and shows that Rodgers is trying to instil playing football the right way. But his defensive coaching leaves a lot to be desired judging by the last couple of seasons, his coaching of the midfield in terms of striking hasn't yielded much success either.

No Louis Suarez in the 23 man listing of candidates for this years Ballon d’Or award!?!?

Thibaut Courtois, Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Yaya Tore are all on the list.

Strange.

It won't matter.

Ronaldo must be the biggest favourite for years.

It would be hard for FIFA to have punished him so severely just a few months ago and now turn round and hand him the biggest player accolade in the football world!

Doesn't make good reading for English players either!

I'd say up front we're a bit more Pointless and at the back it's all a bit You've Been Framed.

I am going tonight, didn't fancy it but after missing the goal fest last Saturday I am compelled to attend plus no one I know wanted them !! oh how it was so different last season.

Will have a cheeky bet on 5+ goals (not saying which side though)

Wouldn't mind seeing Samed Yesil play tronight. In fact, I hope 6 out of the 11 are youngsters given a chance.

Anyone remember the last time we played Swansea in the League cup? I do; 8-0 if I recall. It was the same year we beat Palace 9-0 in the league.

I would normally say we should be giving youth a chance in these games, but I think we need to play many of our first XI to give them some game time to try and sort out these problems. Maybe 2-3 youth.

Is Yesil fit??

I'd like to see Lambert and Borini start up front tonight. And rest Gerrard.

GJ - Skrtel - Lovren - Enrique
Markovic - Can - Hendo - Llama
Lambert - Borini
