A defeat against Chelsea next week will seal his fate as it will be virtually impossible to qualify for CL next season. That will not sit well with the owners.

Fabregas and Costa are just used purely as examples. Those are the types of calibre of player we need to bring in. If we are willing to pay Suarez over £200k a week, I am sure there is money in the kitty to bring in two world class players. Then surround those with the potential that Rodgers likes to develop. We would then be able to compete and at least have a chance of getting top 4.
I have said it before and I will say it again. You cannot build a Top 4 team by simply buying potential. And certainly not when you buy sh!te potential.
But that's just two players that have been picked out who have gone into a squad that is already full of great players and just about performed. Other teams have spent similar money and wages on equally big names who haven't performed.I have said it before and I will say it again. You cannot build a Top 4 team by simply buying potential. And certainly not when you buy sh!te potential.

Rafa would have this set of players competing in the Champions League. BR will do well to get us in the Europa League next season.
Rafa's transfer record was even worse. He wouldn't have signed Lallana for £25m - he would have signed three other midfields (probably the next Zidane) for £8m a piece.
Then he would have frustrated the hell out of everyone by winning midweek 3-0, but still rotating half the squad for todays game.
I see Hindsight Herbert is firmly home to roost!
RT of all people is hardly that. He's pretty consistent with his criticism of BR and where his faults are. And usually before and after matches.

Sorry.
What I want to know is this - 3 subs on the bench, including Lallana, yet only use 2 subs, leaving Balo on the pitch and not bringing on anyone who might be able to make a difference. Shortsightedness?
Hate it when someone posts a stupid comment like this, desk up the whole page.Sorry.

Surely a "Hindsight Herbert" claims after the event that he knows where things have been going wrong.

Hang on....RT has been consistent with his criticism of EVERY liverpool manager for the last 5 years.. From Rafa to Roy the Relic and now Bodge.RT of all people is hardly that. He's pretty consistent with his criticism of BR and where his faults are. And usually before and after matches.
Nothing new here.

Have to agree the constant slagging of BR is tiring. Rafa was a good manager, unlucky with the owners at the time, but lost the dressing room big time, he was tactically 1st class but couldn't man manage to save his life. Roy was a disaster, Kenny helped steady the ship, but brought badly.Nothing new here.
I think BR is a talented coach, not without faults (defensive), he brought us closer to the league with a small squad last season then any manager has for 20 years. The problem lies with the scout/transfer committee approach. Ask yourself this RT why would someone say we are not signing Balo, and then 3 weeks later is signing the player, he been forced upon him. The transfer committee is spreadsheet obsessed (BAlo stats last year were meant to be good) We are moneyball at the moment, and have invested heavily in young talent rather than established internationals. Why did we buy another left sided centre back for example, some of that will be BR but is awful truly. The club seems to thing its scouts will find the next messi where everyone else has failed.
While many of these players may grow and work out, it will mean we will drop out of the top 4 in the meantime while they develop, missing a golden opportunity to build the club up, and really move forward.
On Balo i think it was a gamble, worth taking if you have 2or 3 other strikers banging goals in, probably not if you need him to be one of the main guys However i can't help feel he may be damaging dressing room moral, remember Joe hart reaction when he got sent off, causing them to lose a game in the run up to their first title.
Overall its not been a good start to the season, no one will be happy, but i still support our manager and the players, its easy to take cheap pot shots, call him Bodge etc Its poor at the moment, especially hard to take after last years highs and excellent performances. It may take a few more months to even rebuild this side and find some form, it may well get much worse before it gets better.
