I think the really sad bit is that we genuinely do have a very good squad and could put out a seriously capable starting 11.
We sadly have Roy in charge though.

Said the same thing myself a number of times on the England team thread.

He's just not inspiring enough and won't set up the team to succeed.

I've said this before. Having Neville in the camp will be a massive bonus - I think he'll be influencing Woy big time.

What do we think will be the sign that Roy or Nev has "won" the discussion?

When Roy doesn't come to the pitch we can assume he is locked in a cupboard.

No we don't and no we couldn't.

The squad is ok. But we don't have a single world class player. When we won the world cup we had 3.

Yes we do and yes we can in my opinion but we will agree to disagree.

I'm backing Spain, been there, done that. Similar heat and culture to what they are used to.

Don't forget its winter in Brazil, average high in Sao Paulo is only 24°C, dew point is similar to Madrid in Summer.

As an aside France have a bloody good team when you look at it:

Lloris, Evra, Sagna, Varane, Koscielny, Pogba, Cabaye, Ribery, Matuidi, Giroud, Benzema to name but a few.

At 25/1 that is an underated team IMO.

Also all are League/Champions League winners apart from the Arsenal/Spurs contingent.

Damn! Still in the squad and apparently will be on the bench for their next friendly though.

Not a chance. Barely an average team.

What?

People are misunderstanding me.
I am saying with have a good squad and could field a very capable team.
I am not saying we have a chance or even that we have world class players, we could however, field a team that could work very well together.
Our problem is Roy, that is no excuse, it is the big problem.

Very surprised by the lack of Kießling or Gomez. Klose is a bit long in the tooth although proven at every level. If that fails they can always adopt the false 9 with the likes of Götze, Müller or even Reus has played that role at his previous club.

Yep...Greece won the Euro Champs not too long ago with a bunch of nobodies.

The England team is made up of players from the top third of the Prem (which is one of the best 2-3 leagues in world football) so I'm not buying the 'players are no good' rubbish.

But they have a phenomenal attacking midfield. They won't be short of goals.

I would back chile to get out of their group. Could cause some surprises. Netherlands to not get out of there group.
