Bale and Ronaldo ineffective is being spouted a lot.
I think all the credit is being taken away from Atletico for doing so well and containing them for 80 minutes.
After that it shown who had the more complete side ()

The 2 biggest names on the pitch were anonymous for the 90 mins and only came alive in extra time...
Ronald's only got into the game mid second half while Bale had a couple chances that should have had better results....
Bale is marketing. Bale is a runner with an inadequate technique, good player for the Spurs with room to move in the psychical PL, a lot less comfortable at Real in the PD.

Players like Ronaldo, Di Maria, Ramos, Alonso, Benzema, Modric are more important for Real.

And yet scored 22 goals and 16 assists in his first season (after no preseason and missing quite a bit with injury) and scoring the winner in the Copa del Ray and the Champions league final...yeah he's a bit rubbish.

!! Bale created lots chances and lets not forget scored the games by far and away most important goal, ineffective ??
Yeah because Ramos' goal was nowhere near as important.
Relatively valid point.. Which I shall take on board, despite the tone not being very nice.
Seems to me a lot of people would much prefer Bale to be a complete failure, he is however doing really well for Real, culminating in him scoring some very important goals.

The only people who want Bale to fail in Spain are deluded Spurs fans, none of whom can understand why he left them to go to a smaller club.

Can't remember saying that.

Ronaldo and Messi scored more than double the amount Bale scored.

Bale is 25 or 26 already, had a great second part of the season at Tot in which he did great and scored quite alot, the previous 4 years however hardly any.

So on the basis of half a season he's worth a 100 million euro. Like I said marketing. They know the Brits like to wear a football shirt on holiday :-)

That Coppa del Ray goal is exactly in which he showed what he does best, running.

The CL goal is a decent one, but looking at the previous 111 min. of that game he was just plain rubbish.

I know that, Sky pay well but not that well! hehe

Just impressed that he was there 20mins before kick off rather than with the team/subs.

I suspect they'd prefer Spurs types to cease the 'he's one of ours' stuff TBH.

Bale's not been crap, but he's not exactly been 100m Euros of bargain either.

Di Maria was the star for Real in the final. Dragged them into the game in the second half, Ronnie was non-existent all match, with Bale only performing slightly better. Yes he scored the winner but he could have scored in normal time. For someone who cost 80m and cannot shot with his right foot is beyond me.

Athletio should have played as they did in the first half. Instead they parked the bus and allowed pressure on to them. Feel a tad sorry for them but the players looked gone legs wise. Knackered

+1
...and the fact that the early stages of the second half saw the Ineffective Ronaldo moved to a centre forward position from the left side, where he was strangely anonymous in the first half...
Marcelo and Isco were pressing due to Atletico playing a dangerous defensive game...
I think the game was Won and Lost by the Managers....Ancelottis positive substitutions and Simeones defensive tactics...
There certainly wasn't any stand out performers for me, a few players had a good game but not really anything brilliant...
Think it could have been very different had Bale slipped in Ronaldo who was free in the Area in the mid first half instead of wasting the chance...

You said he was "marketing". Implying that he isn't any good and was only bought to sell shirts.

The fact he only played half a season and still scored 22 goals and the winners in the Copa and Champs league seems to me a bit more than your claim.

Next season will be interesting.

He's not 25 yet, he should have some very good years ahead of him even if it doesn't work out at Madrid next season. He'll still be able to move on to another top Champs League side, I could see him at Bayern now Robbery are 30+, they'll be looking at options for the future. Possibly Man City or even Chelsea if Hazard is on his way out.

Not sure you can call Bale marketing. I doubt the English purchasing of Bale shirts would add up to 1m, let alone 90m.

As far as him not scoring until the last few years, you should have remembered he started out as a defender so has taken some time to grow into the position he plays now.

I think you are being unfair dismissing him as purely pace. Most of his goals this season have been as a easily of good positioning and a decent last foot rather than the fact he can run past a defender.

Of course, the real test will be next year. As others have said , he missed pre-season, has been injured and also this is a first season in a new league.

RVP is another example. He was so injury prone and out for Arsenal every season. Then he had one good season at Arsenal and got snapped up by United for a huge sum.

If you look at Bale, between 2005 - 2012 he scored 34 goals in 204 appearances. Then in 2012-2013 season he scores 26 goals in 44 appearances and is shipped off to Real Madrid for a record breaking price. He may be talented, but looking at the data up to that point it would look like a case of (a) he has improved hugely and taken his game to the next level or (b) That season was a one hit wonder. In the case of (b) it may be best to see if he can repeat that performance before shelling out mega bucks for him.
