I don't think those England players deserved to get out of that group & it has nothing to do with the manager tinkering with tactics or telling international players how the game should be played.
The Italy game is just about as good a game as that England team could ever hope to play, imo.
There is 3 games in a group, we won none. The Italy game is just about as good a game as that England team could ever hope to play, imo.
Ive tried all sorts of tactics for england on football manager and have come to one conclusion.
We're just rubbish
Doesn't matter what I do, we still struggle to beat teams like Ukraine and Poland!
Still think Roy's the wrong guy, Greece are rubbish but they still manage due to tactics and passion!

Doesn't matter who manages over rated players whose egos have been puffed-up by playing week in, week out alongside top international players in their respective PL teams.
You really think results would have been so different if someone like van Gaal had managed the team for the last 2 years?
If so, you are incredibly naive.

Utter cobblers, the linked article above by the Tomkins fella is worth a read.
Something is rotten at the heart of the English game, and it ain't the manager.
Capello & Eriksson were, before being tainted by their respective FA appointments, very successful managers. They had much stronger England teams than the current one & still failed to make much of an impression.
Calling Hodgson a turd polisher is about as far as it goes. Our national team is, for want of a better word, st.

No comment on this thread for over a week ! Guess that pretty much tells you all you need to know about how much people care about the national team. Seems like club over country is the final word then ?
Not a lot of choice when most of the EPL teams are foreign owned. The owners aren't interested in 'our' national team to want to work with the FA in the same way that the German FA did with the Bundersliga team owners (all German owned) who had their own national pride at stake about wanting to return Germany back to the top and WC/EC winners again.Of course, even if they had full EPL team co=operation and involvement, whether the FA have the ability to do what the German FA did is still another matter entirely
It appears Joey Barton has come out of retirement to save the England team!

Sadly - you are absolutely correct. Germany's win on Sunday was planned 14 years ago after their debacle at Euro 2000 when they finished below us in group A. They failed again in 2004 but the determination to succeed was set in place. Under the current situation - this will never happen here because a) The FA can't do anything about the draw of money from SKY which puts winning the EPL and money before everything else and b) there is no huge national desire for us to succeed. Club every time sadly.Of course, even if they had full EPL team co=operation and involvement, whether the FA have the ability to do what the German FA did is still another matter entirely
