Stunning strike that was.
Indeed. I seem to be enjoying this game more than many recent England games. Considering the 'pundits' said it would be played like a testimonial it actually seems to have a bit more bite to it. Good performance tonight in a game where the display was less important than anything else at all.
Anthems sung superbly, the FA got the pre-match stuff spot on and top marks for deciding to stage the game and not buckle under any pressure to cancel it.
England looked decent with, as someone else pointed out, the right people in the right places. Dele Alli booked his place on the plane to Euro 2016 tonight with that goal and Stones did too. In addition, Kane impressed me and in my opinion, Jack Butland isn't far behind Joe Hart now. Hart should definitely feel him breathing down his neck, that's for sure.
Downsides? Despite his assist, Sterling was poor and doesn't do enough for me. Runs down blind alleys and constantly gives the ball away, there has to be someone better in that position than him. And the only criticism for the crowd tonight was that bloody band... "Carnival de Paris", "The Great Escape", "Rule Britannia" and "God Save The Queen" are the only four songs they can play. Change the record lads. Finally, why is Ian Wright on every single football programme at present? Match of the Day on BBC1, Football League Tonight on C5 and tonight on ITV. This morning, he was moaning that the game was going ahead and they shoul cancel it... tonight sees him pocketing several shillings for being a pundit. Hypocrite.
Other than that, a decent night where the result was always secondary.

Oh and what a great choice in Glen hoddle as co-commentator. Did all those victims deserve it, Glen, 'cause of what they done in a previous life?
He was a very good footballer and a decent manager, but a hopeless commentator and a seriously deluded human being with a world view that David Icke would struggle to take seriously.Utter loon.
