Do you honestly think Gazza was better than C Ronaldo? That is absolute bks.

I do think he'd make a top 500, as that is an awful lot of players, but top 10? In the last 10-15 years we have seen the likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard, Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Suarez, Eto'o, John Terry, Vidic, Rio, Manuel Neuer, Roy Keane, ZIDANE, (Brazillian) Ronaldo, Arjen Robben, Bale, Modric, Pirlo. And that was just quickly off the top of my head. I'd pick any of those over Gazza.

You are coming onto a football forum and suggesting, with a straight face, that he was better than Pele and Maradonna?

You're certifiable.

After watching Portugal vs Poland yesterday, and the quality of football (or lack of), brought home just how st football played by the English football is.
Truely pathetic.

In my very uneducated view, England lack the cynical attitude towards the game. For instance to defend like bds for 95% of the game and then hope to poach a goal. It's not about going out there to entertain.
Going out there and knowing we can beat anyone 'on our day' is total suicide. 'Our day' is usually some friendly where we hammer the world cup winners or something.

Another Spud here, and I reckon Hoddle was as talented as Gazza, having seen them both week-in, week-out in their prime.

In terms of UK players, I'd say Rod Marsh, Stan Bowles were as talented in their prime, possibly even Frank Worthington as well.

And that's not even mentioning Stanley Matthews, Duncan Edwards and of course George Best.

Add in John Charles, Bobby Moore, Tom Finney, Jimmy Greeves, Kenny Dagleish and a few others to think about, IMHO, Gazza just about makes it into a Top 10 from the UK.
Top 5 ever in the world is just comical fanboy-ism laugh

OK, if you're going to have Stan Bowles & Frank Worthington in your list of top players then you've got to include Trevor Brooking and possibly Alan Devonshire... I realise you're talking about the type of ball skills Gazza had but I'd certainly rate a Brooking & Devo' combination about Bowles & Worthington. smile The list goes on...

Most of them aren't fit to clean Gazza (at his best) footy boots... Go and watch his youtube goal compilation then come back ( Im guessing you're quite young).. The guy was also a midfielder but could put most strikers to shame with his finishing.. Even Alex Ferguson said he was one of the best players he'd seen and bust his ass to try and sign him before he chose Spurs.. Ps I hate Spurs but I know an exceptional footballer when I see one and Gazza was sensational, and also Miles more exciting to watch than most of them listed above.

Gazza makes my top 5 too.

Thought George Best was a better all rounder, but Gazza is just behind him with Kenny Sansom third.

We are talking of ex-footballing p1ssheads , right ?
