I think penalties should be on the national curriculum, from age 5, with maths and English. Last lesson on a Friday, kids take 5 pens. If they don't score 4, they have to come in early on Monday. That adds pressure.

By the time they leave school every kid will be able to take a decent pen.

hehe
Too soft.

If they don't score four, they don't get to go home. Too harsh? The nerdy ones wouldn't see mummy for years.

Big Sam heavily tipped. No fking about, no prima donnas, hard work. A way of playing. Expert at avoiding relegation. Just what England needs I think. I'm surprised the FA is considering him though.
I'm a Sunderland fan and hope that he doesn't make the move, we're a doomed basket case and need him to stay and sort us out! jester

England are crap, it might be an easy number and good money but stuff that.

Could it really just boil down to the way England see themselves as a team?
Still a giant that just has to get everything right on the day to beat any team in the world.

In fact they are an average team who really ought to set up like an average team. Get a solid defence and gameplan to get a few chances or set pieces in a game.

Exactly what I've said for years. We just cannot play like we try to. I say stick 2 big centre forwards and just go route 1

If that's the plan it has to be Big Sam.

He's much more creative than that. Don't know why he gets the tag as a long ball manager, as he played some cracking stuff at Bolton - and knows a thing or two about counter-attacking football. Which is exactly what England needs.

IMO we should have an English manager. If we can't win with an English manager we're just not good enough.

Not Big Sam tho. Harry Redknap anybody?
Harry's a good man manager, but rubbish at tatics. Plus he will want to employ his cronies which make him look like a half decent manager.

We didn't see much of the creative football you describe while he was at West Ham.

Sunderland were playing well under him - no hoofball or any such thing, creative stuff and by the time he had them working they were hard to beat too - one loss in twelve and that was against Leicester.

A couple of absolutely ridiculous slip ups (like O'Sheas man marking in the last ten second against the Saints - shameful beyonf belief) stopped them from being safe weeks earlier tbh.

If big Sam gets we will get worse. WTF does he know about coaching at international level, absolutely FA.

What are the alternatives?

We've tried the big-name, experienced foreign manager and it has failed. Twice.

Big Sam wants the job, has a track record of getting good results from a mis-matched team of average players. Sounds like he's just what we need.

What do you mean worse?

We're the laughing stock of Europe at the moment, so called 'Top' managers have had a go so let SA try.

Is it not getting the best out of your players, choosing formations and strategies that work well for your team. Lots of managers take international roles with no experience. Big Sam is experienced in managing a variety of teams, in one of the biggest leagues in the world.

Plenty of experience getting the best out of the teams. That's what we need.

Imagine if Man utd had that attitude when they could of got Fergie many moons ago? Can't get experience of something until you're given the chance to...

To be fair, that's the thinking that got 'Beaker' Moyles the job, too!

Hmmmmmm, we didn't see much of that at West Ham although to be fair he did a good job for us.

Of course, but please don't be obtuse.

How is an English manager meant to get International experience without, you know, being given International experience?

Really. You think we'll concede 2 goals off long throws against a country with the population of a large tube station in rush hour????

We cannot get any worse. We lost to fking Iceland. Short of a defeat to Gibraltar or Easter Island I'm not sure there's anywhere to go but up.
