Allardyce? seriously? FFS, the FA dont learn do they. While he may be good at giving a few prima donas the rocket up their arse they need i cant sea it going much further than that.

Well that'd be a very good start, who knows what unusual outcomes might follow that !

He might stop them getting relegated biggrin

But seriously can he do worse than the last few managers? FWIW He might try and play the type football the English are best at.........most English players don't seem to have a clue what they are doing when they go onto the international stage.

Moyes will be favourite I'd have thought.

Big Sams honours as a manager;

Limerick
League of Ireland First Division: 1991–92

Notts County
Football League Third Division: 1997–98

Bolton Wanderers
Football League First Division play-offs: 2001

West Ham United
Football League Championship play-offs: 2012

But TBH who gives a fk - he can't do much worse than Roy and the problems with England run deeper than the manager anyway

He did us a good job as West Ham manager especially in the championship and first season back in the prem, towards the end of his time though it was annoying to watch.

I think hes a lot better than Woy but the think I have never liked about him is the lack of passion, he often looks asleep in the dugout.

Bilic is the complete opposite and we were right to get rid of Sam for Slaven.

Are we now going to be allowed to field 8 or 9 foreign superstars on the field at all times as part of an England team?

I think i remember hearing when he had heart problems (was it a bypass?) he was told to calm it down or stand a chance of not seeing the end of a game. When he was at Bolton pre his health problem he was regularly blowing a fuse on the touchline,

He is currently favourite with the bookies! Rumours abound that he had already spoken to the club too.

+1, saved me typing pretty much the same.

Good luck to him.

Ps Sam, don't make Kane take set pieces.

Great news.....lets make a list of numpty things to tell him and I'll send him them with a congratulations tweet tomorrow - (One each please!)

1. Don't let your centre forward take the corners (Kane)
2. Don't let the smallest guy mark the biggest guy at headers (Rooney)
3.
4.
5.

It's the best realistic appointment the FA could have made GIVEN that they prefer an English manager. Sam Allardyce is a pragmatic choice; he is well known and liked by other Premier League managers, he can handle the media, and he's the right age (i.e. he should enjoy the on-off nature of a national manager role).
But more than all that, he gets the best out of what he's got. The England squad is full of talent, albeit with no world beaters. Sam will get them organised, they'll defend properly and they'll know what they are doing. I don't expect us to win a major tournament. But under Sam Allardyce I think we'll beat the likes of Slovakia and Iceland within tournaments. Something the Hodgson and Capello couldn't do.
