Whether Allardyce deserved to be set up or not, congratulations must go to the telegraph for making the England job seem even more toxic to any decent candidates than it already was.
Considering just how much of a poisoned chalice it was before, that really took some doing.
As I'm sure many others have already said, considering the crooked nature of the governing bodies of the sport, should we be surprised that anyone is above trying to feather their nest while they have the opportunity? The whole game is riddled with that attitude, from players making the most of their career before it all ends, to administrators taking their cut while immense amounts of money slosh round.
When managers can be sacked on a whim, I can empathise with them taking whatever they can get while they can get it.
He was on 3M a year. He blew it. Does a crooked governing body make everything ok? What about principles? In a way I feel sorry for him but he obviously didn't have the intelligence or commitment to the role. Bad selection process etc.Considering just how much of a poisoned chalice it was before, that really took some doing.

If they were scraping the barrel before BFS, they now don't even have the barrel anymore!
The FA don't exactly help themselves though, as they are still in this 'blazer n tie' amateur world of what football was 60 years ago, not the cut throat, big business, mega bucks world that is the modern game....so it's not surprising they just flounder from one disaster to another.
I'm sure they will be putting pressure on Southgate to take the job full time now.
