After more than half a century of watching our national team (just noticed that this is the 50th anniversary of our WC win) I won't be bothering to watch any more England internationals.
Until the next one....hehe

Been a football fan since the age of three or four, am now approaching 50 and really, honestly couldn't give a toss about the England team any more. Once upon a time, an England game on the telly and nothing would stop me watching it but these days, just can't be bothered.

Tonight, went out to watch my local under-18's team. My lads could be playing in that team next season as they are under-16's this season; four of their age group played tonight and one of them created the 86th minute winner in a 3-2 win. Cost £2 to get in, a quid for a pasty and a quid for a coffee. All a mile from home and back home by 9.30pm.

And best of all, I missed the crock of s**t that was the England game.

At least we know now that Rooney is first to be put on the team sheet for the foreseeable future,, again.

Sturridge is so greedy with that bloody ball too....And where is Lallana?, the most creative player we had leading up to Euro16, then his left out during it against Iceland and doesn't figure so far. I give up, its amazing how people see things different.

Good luck, Gareth..

Another game I'm thankful I didn't watch.

England v Scotland could be one of the most turgid games in history at this rate. Utter dross.

Best thing that could happen for England is for the rankings to be reset. Somewhere around 60th sounds about right. At least then expectations will be correctly sorted.

Injured.

Quite happy I missed live & highlights TBH as it read from a brief report that Joe Hart did better than most/all?
The more things change.....

Genuinely, that was one of the worst, if not the worst England performance I can remember. Apart from Joe Hart no one deserves to be in that team. John Stones and Gary Cahill are massive liabilities.

When you look at our U21 team who play extremely well, I'd promote every single one of them and play them in the next friendly. It cant be any worse than the crock of st that happened last night and they might have a bit more fight in them.

Worst thing for me is that it is just so BORING to watch. It's all so slow: fannying around at the back- possession possession possession and then when we eventually get to the final third a lot of messing around as they try to "unlock the opposition defence" ending up with the sum total of nothing. The crossing is appalling, as it was in the Euros, the corners are useless, the free-kicks are useless.

It's all just crap.

Might as well keep Gareth Southgate - no-one else is going to do any better with our players.

Even in my cynical and jaded World passing back to the keeper from the oppo half seems like the attitude of born losers.

Roll on the next game. Much anticipation. Luckily we have friends over for din-dins so I have an excuse not to watch.

Thank fk I watched the Hairy Bikers followed by Great Continental Railway Journeys, two excellent shows. Entertaining & educational. Great camera work, & very enthusiastic people, both presenting & interviewed.

The passes back told you all about the movement up the park. They were too far up the park. Just maybe, maybe, why Rooney, in all the other games, comes back to collect making him nowhere near the oppositions net.

The shape is tits up. Italy and Germany are he masters of this.

at times there does seem to be a disconnect between forward runners and those supplying the passes.

the knocking about at the back sometimes happens because midfielders aren't making the effort to do box to box to support the back four..

we looked bloody awful at times last night and wouldn;t have scored in another ninety minuites

I only watched the first few minutes yesterday then the last 10 but what was glaring obvious is that at times when we had the ball at the back or in midfield everyone was standing still and no-one was closer then about 15 yards. We seem technically unable to receive the ball in tight situations and still give and pass and keep possession.

From professional footballers that is embarrassing. Shows how technically rubbish we are compared to our European counterparts. Every premiership team has lots of technically excellent footballers which carry our own and make them out to be better than they are. Shows that when you stick English players into a team they show how good they are, which is pretty dire.

This.

How much in payoffs have the FA chucked away in the last 15 years to incompetent big names. We see the same old same old year after year.

My mum might as well do the job.

No good having someone that would pull off the whole team at half time...
