I totally agree with TwigtheWonderkid about Sterling. His problem is that he just doesn't understand the game. The movement of other players confuses him. That's why he dithers and then panics.

A case in was near the end of the match. Rose, who was outstanding, burst out of his own half and deep into Scottish territory. Sterling then TACKLED HIM, before proceeding to spin in ever decreasing circles which enabled the defence to surround him.

It took Rose, tracking back, to extricate the poor lad from his self imposed predicament.

Sterling can't play football when others are on the pitch.
I know exactly the passage of play you're referring to as I watched Sterling in isolation. All the momentum built up by Rose's forward thrust evaporated inside three seconds as Sterling span round like a wobbly 50p span by a little kid.

Virtually every time he got the ball last night, he was either fouled or lost the ball running into a cul-de-sac. Like others have said, he's looked good at City at times this season but he's not great at all for his country.

Sterling was rated a 9 by Sky pundits. Walker and Rose got 8
We'll, then they're obviously charlatans, fools and ne'erdowells.

Just seen they gave Rooney 8, Sterling 9 and Lallana 9.5. Do I need to watch the game to see these world class performances?

I think the scores were out of 100 though.

The best result for tonight would be a Spain thrashing, maybe 4-0 and Southgate not getting the job.

Watching Masterchef rather than the game. That's not something I'd ever have done a few years ago.

I wonder what the point is of calling up players like Cresswell and not playing them even though it's only a friendly. Seems pointless to me.

Vardy made a pig's ear of his chance. He's a totally different player to last year (unfortunately).

England winning, Gareth may as well start moving in the office furniture now. Even if England draw he's probably got the job.

This is a different bloody side tonight. I'm guessing it's because the midfield isn't having to wait for an aging granny shagger to lumber up the pitch.

Seriously. We have to stop picking him. He's done. Over.

Now we just need to get rid of Raheem "get ball, run down blind ally, try to cut back onto right foot, fall over/lose ball/ misplace pass/ stand there with a wtf just happened look on my stupid non-footballing brain face then pick up a petulant booking" Sterling & our midfield might start to look half decent...

The atmosphere in the stadium makes the Emirates seem like a nightclub in Ibiza. Vardy looks every bit the one season wonder as well.

I agree. We'll pretend the header didn't happen because he's been pretty disappointing otherwise.

Yeah.

Won a penalty which resulted in a goal, and scored with a header.

The thing about the penalty is if this was last season he'd have smashed it in the back of the net rather than dithering around taking 3 touches.
