Southgate has taken England as far as he can and should be relieved of his duties.

What in goal? Can't be any worse than Heaton I suppose.

I think one thing the FA should try and remember with their decision is that England was up 2-0 and managed to squander 2 goals and not lock the game up.

Although we all know Southgate's got the job.

It's almost as if there was a massive Spurs influence on the team wink

Broke my post-Euros rule as the FiL was down and we watched to 10mins into the 2nd half. Even at 2-0 up England looked poor (Lallana's pass for the first goal/pen being the one exception, overshadowed however by Vardy's first touch! What happened to Vardy last year?). We turned the TV over.

I wasn't surprised to see the final score later. Or perhaps was surprised they didn't lose.

I couldn't care less who is in charge next. I think a character like Allardyce or Redknapp or maybe Hoddle would be the only real hope we have of getting anything from this squad. But that will never happen. So who cares.

We'll continue to do well in qualifying (more down to the quality of the opposition) and then bomb in tournaments either not getting out of the group stages or getting knocked out quickly thereafter.

England will not win a trophy at football in my lifetime, of that I'm sure. IF they manage to play a game that's good to watch in that timeframe I'd be gobsmacked.

Made it difficult for me to yet too excited. Least Cresswell finally got a (small) chance.

First Spainish goal was good, second inevitable. England poor as usual.

Wembley's a long way from Essex.

I heard an interview with Sir Bobby Charlton.

He was asked how the 1966 team would fare against the current team. He thought for a moment and then said, 'It would be close, but would beat them by two goals.'
'Just two goals?'
'You have to remember we are getting on a bit and some of us are dead.'

England won a trophy just a few years ago. Unless you are under 15 years old you've already seen them win.

Le Tournoi.

Will always remember that for the best free kick I've ever seen.

Was that the one that the Brazilian (Carlos?) whacked that started out on target, swerved 10 ft wide of the post, then swerved back inside the post....? Some kind of miracle goal...?

That's it. Ball boy sitting well wide of the goal actually ducks because he thinks it's going straight for him.

Scientists even examined it!

Fair play.

I also rejoice at them winning their qualifying groups without loss smile
