England won a trophy just a few years ago. Unless you are under 15 years old you've already seen them win.

I looked it up having been corrected.

A 4 team (France, Italy, Brazil and England) pre-98 World Cup warm up.

That era of England team should probably have won more proper trophies...

Just shows how very average our team looks.

I dunno, there's mediocracy in depth there.

I see these comments every time a team sheet gets published. What are the alternatives? Just asking as I have no idea.

I'm not saying it's wrong, just average. He only has mediocrity to choose from. There are no world class English players currently. When we won the world cup we had 3. Most of the time since then we've had none, occasionally 1.

Did Southgate get the job permanently or is he still interim manager? Honestly can't remember.

He's permanent, well until we fail to get out of the group in Russia.

Cheers.

It's indicative of how little the national team means to me these days, that I didn't know the answer.

Is Jack Livermore really a better bet than Tom Carroll or Jack Wilshere?

But why is that? There are so many kids playing/being coached in England, what's going wrong? Why are other countries producing better talent? My son just started playing this year and there are some in his group that seem to have great natural talent. What happens to them? I arrived here in 2000. I have no clue about the game but all I have experienced is people talking about the England team "under performing ". Surely 17 years is long enough to identify what's wrong.
Just to add, I'm not English but would dearly love the English team show something in major tournaments!

Yep, time we stopped talking about "under-performing" and accept this is our level. The media might then stop blowing hot air up our arses and we could enjoy tournaments more with realistic expectations.

Yes it is good stuff smokin
