I was very impressed with England's pace, passing and agility until I realised they are actually playing in blue. It looks like the same old same old to me. No real flair, no real talent, no real passion.
We simply aren't very good!
What did you expect with Southgate in charge? He was the least inspiring choice they could possibly have made. Bang average player, not had the imagination to really stretch himself beyond the safe England 'jobs for the boys' bubble. We simply aren't very good!
Even as a player, he took the safe option, when he could have taken a gamble. Always a big fish in a very small pond.

Okay, I'm intrigued, if this was the safe option, what was the gamble, who would you have played?
Played?I'm talking about his selection as England manager.
He was an average player, who never really put himself under any pressure (tipped for a big move from Villa. Signed for Boro). Became Boro manager by default, failed at that so became part of the England setup. He's been existing in that little protected bubble of being part of the 'establishment' ever since and somehow ended up with the big gig.
Last night I experienced something very new whilst watching an England game. Pleasure. No, not because I had a crafty one to some pron on my phone either.
It was nice open flowing footie, on another day it could have finished 3.0 to England. Apart from the wonder goal Germany were pretty woeful, two years away from having a cohesive team. It was good to see England play with out the hopeless expectation of Rooney on the pitch, bodes well for the future. They actually looked hungry and motivated, good to see.
