The only thing he is capable of captaining is a rowing boat, and that's pushing it!
Might get injured.

It doesn't really matter, does it?

Unlike in cricket or, to a lesser extent, rugby the captain of a football team has no decision-making responsibility. His duties are to toss up before the game and do media interviews after it. Oh, and shout "come on, lads" at regular intervals.

The main function of the England football captaincy is to create a media talking point.

They should adopt the Italian way.

Bloke with the most caps goes up for the coin toss.

I think at the moment it is Rooney. Do you really want to see Rooney as the leader of your national team?Things are bad enough for England as they are.

Plus, Rooney shouldn't be playing for England in a major tournament ever again. 11 appearances and 1 goal at world cups..
