The phone was seized by the police when looking into player transfer fraud, they uncovered the texts.

As for how the text messages were made public is a different story.

There are some choice texts there that clearly aren't jokes. As for banter, the LMA needs to sack the idiot in charge there. No way was this 'banter'.

Interesting the way he referred to them being 3 texts out of 10,000 but 'he wasn't making excuses'. Hmmm... Sounds like you are.

Reminds me of Ron Atkinson's excuse for his comment about Marcel Desailly ('to be fair I didn't realise
I'd said it').

Well that's alright then...

Must admit what I don't understand is why Crystal Palace would give a rat fk. Maybe a whole 5 of their fans would care what MM said. It would be forgotten by the next Saturday. It would cause Palace sod all revenue or reputation. MM on his job performance is clearly a good manager I'd have said fk it, hired him and shut up shop for the week till Saturday. But hey ho we live in a world where PR and media platitudes are king.

Vincent Tan has absolutely nailed his revenge though. Served cold?...it was still at Iceland!

The reason why Crystal Palace gave a rat fk is imagine you were a black player in the squad. Would you respect anything he would say? Would you refuse to play? Would you think "maybe because I am black MM thinks I shouldn't be playing for Palace because I should be in jail". This applies also to Asian and Jewish players too.

That is why Crystal Palace have to give a rat fk and the rest of the football league in future. His position is untenable.

Still don't think the man should lose his job for something he sent in private. Fair enough now if he was sending details of someone he wanted murdered or whatever.

He didn't lose his job for the text messages. He lost his job because of a disagreement with Tan based mainly on overspend on transfers amongst other things. The text messages were found afterwards and used (allegedly) to prevent him getting the Palace job.

Correct but surely he is now unemployable.

No they wouldnt because fairly obviously it hasn't made a blind bit of difference in his selection policies and player treatments so far. If it had there would have been plenty of previous MM players mouthing off. MM would have said " right you fkers, which of you bds can play a bit?"

Honestly, you get on OK with your boss, you've never had a problem, and one day you find out he/she has sent a whole bunch of text messages which if you take them at face value seem just a little bit racist, homophobic or anti-semitic.

Would you just walk in on Monday and be able to say "Morning boss" as if nothing had happened? What if you were black, gay, or Jewish?

I don't think I would. Of course you don't know what people say behind closed doors but once you do it's quite difficult to pretend you didn't hear it.

I'm well paid. If my boss wants to think I'm a complete gay black Jewish pig fked I don't give a damn so long as he keeps paying me well. You would be amazed the number of bosses I have worked for who I thought were utter morons and I've just smiled and counted the pennies. The ONLY true freedom in the world is financial freedom. I'm a we as are every other contract (not salaried) person in the world.

MM referred Tan and Korean players as ch***s.

EPL's biggest overseas market is east Asia and the sponsors that come with it. The sponsors might think twice at wanting to be associated with Selhurst Park and MM.

Knock it off nobody in the Far East is going to support Crystal fking Palace whether they are sponsored by Mars, Addidas, Haliburton, ISIS, the Beijing Housing Authority or Raffles bleeding hotel! This is purely and utterly a Tan hatchet job and delivered superbly. MM insulted him and belittled him and Tan has done him like a kipper. Who gives a fk about racist crap when there is a beautiful revenge job been done?

I do, along with millions of others. MM's texts were totally unacceptable & he deserves all the criticism.

You're right about Tan getting his revenge tho.

Meh, if he were a player he would walk straight into another club. Look at all the players who get sent down for rape and drink driving etc. They come out of prison and walk straight into another tidy contract. There are no morals in football anymore.
