Meh, if he were a player he would walk straight into another club. Look at all the players who get sent down for rape and drink driving etc. They come out of prison and walk straight into another tidy contract. There are no morals in football anymore.

He didn't lose his job for the text messages. He lost his job because of a disagreement with Tan based mainly on overspend on transfers amongst other things. The text messages were found afterwards and used (allegedly) to prevent him getting the Palace job.
Correct but surely he is now unemployable.
Obviously not. It is a sad day when a racist (yes he apologised) is allowed to get a top job in football. I had a lot of respect for Whelan - and lost a lot of it today.

I can understand the Mackay outrage but the Whelan stuff is being taken out of proportion. Is he racist? No. Is he racially ignorant, and out of touch with what is acceptable to say and what isn't? Possibly. The media do not seem to know the difference. He said some potentially offensive terms. He apologised for any offence he caused. End of story. Draw a line under it and move on. Being international week, the papers haven't had a lot to talk about, so they're milking it as much as they can. The biggest idiot in this whole debacle is Clarke Carlise, piping up spouting his usual tripe.

He didn't last very long

"Malky Mackay has been sacked as Wigan manager after 138 days in charge of the Championship strugglers."
