Anywhere else on the pitch its at least a foul, you can even see the defender back out of heading it for fear of getting booted in the head. Apols for the obtuse and I agree about the lack of protection.Football has changed in that respect.
It's also much more competitive, the players are fitter, faster, stronger and have to perform more consistently at a higher level as their are players looking to get on the team.
I can't think of any area other than the likelihood of being fouled that a current player finds it easier than 30 years ago.
Or are you saying the games not moved on?
