We are violently agreeing here - for AFC match day receipts are the single biggest item on the 'incomings', but are dwarfed by income from TV/Sky, sponsorship, property, etc combined.
And Arsenal are somewhat unique, due to thieir ticket pricing regime (I should know, both myself and my boys suffer from that) - try looking at someone like Villa....
I made a point to prove a point and accept that for most clubs, matchday receipts aren't the biggest income stream. And Arsenal are somewhat unique, due to thieir ticket pricing regime (I should know, both myself and my boys suffer from that) - try looking at someone like Villa....
It's worth saying though that for all clubs they are a really big earner and I think it's too easy to say that clubs could hugely reduce prices and wouldn't feel the pinch, though the new TV deal will soften the blow.
When you look at the actual finances of football clubs rather than just a headline of what a player earns, beyond half a dozen premiere league clubs there turnover figures really aren't that much in business terms when you consider the publicity, profile and column inches they command. What do you think?

It's not even a half dozen clubs...even looking at the richest clubs by turnover they are tiny from a 'business' POV. I think Utd have a turnover in the 300 millions. And that's global turnover!
Yup....it's one of thing things that excites all the foreign investors. When you look at the brand value/exposure these football clubs have their turnover is absolutely tiny.London424 said:

Indeed. Uniteds last years turnover was £433 million, which is a lot until you compare it to say Sports Direct which turned over 2.2 BILLION or Nike which hit £16 BILLION. It does put things in perspective as United are streets ahead of any other UK team. London424 said:

FFs i'm sick of hearing how footballers earn this and that. Have a look at what other people are the best at what the do earned this last year......
Calvin Harris - £42 million or £808,000 a WEEK
LeBron James - $45 million or £865,000 a WEEK
Floyd Mayweather - £65 million or £1,250,000 a WEEK
Roger Federer - £35 million or £674,000 a WEEK
Tiger Woods - £38 million or £730,000 a WEEK
Payton Manning - £16 million dollars £307,000 a WEEK
Does anyone bat an eyelid at these people who earn a LOT more than footballers do? Do they bks. They are all the best at what they do so damn right they should be paid for it.
