People I used to know that still live where his family live told me that the girl had tried blaming another person in a different incident before this incident.
That multiple-level hearsay doesn't sound overly reliable. True. I'd assume if it did happen it would be documented and would have been added as part of the request for a not guilty verdict.

I honestly don't think it is rape but there must be some evidence that hasn't made it out into the public otherwise how else could somebody be jailed for 5 years just on another persons word?
Here's the summary someone linked earlier: https://www.crimeline.info/case/r-v-ched-evans-che...When you read that its pretty clear why one got off and the other one did time.
As for whether he should play again, my career would be ruined if I had a conviction for rape, i'd have to choose a completely different career path, I don't see why he should be any different and I certainly wouldn't want him playing for my team.
However this is football and if anything has been proven over the year its that the majority of fans will forgive anything as long as the player is doing the business on the pitch no matter how much of a scumbag he is.

if he's still got the skill and talent - then he'll play again.
guys like marlon king get signed on again and again. then there was the one who caused death by dangerous driving (?) he played again
if its financially positive to any club - they'll sign him regardless of what the fans say.
as for the conviction itself - i have to agree with the above posters who are very dubious of this case.

IF he is actually innocent why wouldn't he try and clear his name? If anyone on here had been falsely convicted they'd be protesting their innocence too. Seems to me that no matter what he does he's screwed. He protests? He's a scumbag. He admits? He's a scumbag. Shuts up and says nothing? He's obviously guilty - he's a scumbag.
IF he actually did it then he's served his time and should be allowed to make a living (and yes I say that even whilst feeling that he'd be a scumbag as well). IIRC 'Dirty Den' from Eastenders was a convicted murderer and yet people were happy to watch that crappy soap he's in, why is ok for him but not this chap?

Interesting text in the case files, thanks for posting.

The complainant (the girl) had no recollection of anything which took place after 3am. That extended to the fact that she and McDonald entered the hotel at 4.15am. The night porter described her as "extremely drunk". That reinforced the Crown's case based on the evidence of witnesses and the CCTV footage before she had arrived at the hotel. While en route to the room the porter heard her say to McDonald "You're not going to leave me, are you?" They entered a bedroom in which various sexual acts took place and eventually they had sexual intercourse...
According to McDonald's evidence, in the hotel room sexual activity was initiated by the complainant. She gave every indication that she was enthusiastic and enjoying herself. He did not force her to do anything she did not wish...
When he (Ched) arrived at the room it was immediately apparent to him that McDonald and the complainant were engaged in enthusiastic consensual sex. When she was asked if the applicant could join in, the complainant clearly replied "Yes". McDonald stopped. The complainant asked the applicant to perform oral sex on her. He did so and then they had sexual intercourse. Throughout all the activities with him she was enthusiastic, wide awake and she consented to everything that happened.
I'm amazed he (and only he) was convicted on that basis tbh.According to McDonald's evidence, in the hotel room sexual activity was initiated by the complainant. She gave every indication that she was enthusiastic and enjoying herself. He did not force her to do anything she did not wish...

strewth man - read the damn thread. He's not innocent though is he? How do I know this ? Because the the jury found him guilty as he was FILMED comitting the rape. That is also why he has failed any subsequent appeals. Despite there being video evidence to the contrary he still maintains his innocence. Thats why this case is different to the likes of King,Hughes and McCormack.
Not going to get into whether he is/was guilty or not. Fact of the matter is he has served his time and is now if I believe correctly a free man. Problem is would you like to have you're kids shouting and cheering for him at a match. Has he actually indicated he wants to return to football? Long time out of the game even if someone was to take a chance on him.

No kid ever looked at rapist footballer and thought "you know when I get older I want to be a rapist just like him".Kids cheering for him at a match is also a bit of misnomer as the reality is that they'll only cheer for him as long as he's scoring for their team. The minute the goals dry up or they transfer to another team the kids will be cheering the new bloke.

Not sticking up for him but it was not as if he dragged a woman off the streets and raped her , wasn't the girl so drunk she could not give consent ?
Hotel CCTV footage here:http://www.chedevans.com/judge-for-yourself
I can only imagine trying to walk outside, bend down and pick up your pizza off the pavement in stacked heels while too drunk to stand... but she looks pretty nifty on her pins in the video to me!

Evans has had due process, he has served his time and should be free to get on with his life like anyone else in his position.
Would I want a convicted rapist playing for Derby though? No way, however good he is. I simply could not cheer a goal scored by a rapist. Most fans would feel the same.
If he were a road sweeper or a van driver we wouldn't be having a discussion on PH about it!Would I want a convicted rapist playing for Derby though? No way, however good he is. I simply could not cheer a goal scored by a rapist. Most fans would feel the same.

Evans seems to think its acceptable to have sex with an unconscious women whilst being filmed. I find it worrying if he cannot accept this. Other footballers & sportsmen, Luke McCormack for example, have accepted they were at fault so I have no issue with them moving forward with their lives.
Has it been proved she was unconscious?I'm wondering why Evans would perform oral sex on an unconscious woman who had just indulged in intercourse with his friend if it wasn't at her request!

The CCTv footage shows the girl entering the hotel with Mc donald hence the assumption of her consent to him. Evans was proscecuted on the back on the mobile footage filmed by his mates whilst the girl was unconscious. Thats how mc donald was not prosecuted.
Do you know that this is correct? I cannot find any mention that the footage showed the woman to be unconscious.Crimeline said:
The applicant's two companions remained outside the hotel. They looked through the bedroom window and filmed what was taking place with a mobile telephone until the curtains to the bedroom were closed.

Whilst this was happening, outside, Ched’s brother and his friend had gone to the window of Room 14. They were fooling around, giggling and laughing (caught on the soundtrack) and attempting to film on a mobile phone what was happening in Room 14. They made two short clips but did not obtain any discernible footage.

The opening "point" is brilliant. He was throwing chips = couldn't be out looking for girls. I bet the defence team were devastated they didn't think to use that one in court...

I'm surprised he wants to return surely he's going to get chants of rapist rapist for 90 minutes of every game for the rest of his days?
Getting paid more than most peoples annual salary on here in the space of a week probabley has something to do with it, and in the end he'll retire a very young and rich man, for a tradeoff of 90 minutes a week abuse from some louts, so I can see the appeal.KingNothing said:

It's very strange he's had such strong support from his girlfriend, my missus would have no doubt knifed me in the heart and cut my cock off if she didn't believe my version of events.
It's also quite strange he's maintained his innocence as a big fat huge heartfelt apology and admittance of guilt and poor drunken judgement would have softened everything immeasurably with the media if not the judgement.
