If your child has a footballer as a role model, you need to be a better parent.
My kids, when they were younger, admired footballers for their ability to play football. But I made them well aware that they were, on the whole, fking idiots. And often not very nice human beings.
It's actually people of Bangladeshi origin that own the vast majority of Indian restaurants. If your child has a footballer as a role model, you need to be a better parent.

You sound like a ignorant, i'll-informed parent, and your kids will probably grow up being dumb fkwits, but patents know best how to raise their own children. Good luck with that

My kids, when they were younger, admired Pakistanis for their ability to cook curry. But I made them well aware that they were, on the whole, fking idiots. And often not very nice human beings."

Just to clarify, my quote is as per my original post. For some reason XM5ER quoted it and appears to have changed it. All very strange.
I never said anything about Pakistanis and curries.
I changed it to highlight the fact that making sweeping generalisations about groups of people has unfortunate equivalences. I didn't understand your Chelsea thing though.I never said anything about Pakistanis and curries.

I went on a mini-rant about it before it dawned on me that that is what had happened.

It gives the impression that I'm a racist, which I'm not. I think most footballers are poor role models, regardless of their colour or creed.
And I apologise to Leroy, as I can now see how he formed his incorrect impression.

You can probably make more reasonable generalisations about professions than you can about entire ethnic groups.TwigtheWonderkid said:

For me, it's not that they're all dicks, it's just that they and professional sportsmen in general cannot be reasonably expected to be better than the general population given the attributes necessary for their careers and the circumstances they are put in. Which isn't to say that we should accept them behaving badly, just that expecting them to be exemplary is unreasonable.
