Anyone know anything about a huge bust up between Lovren & Gerrard after the Palace game ?

The Guardian podcast mentioned it this week & they are pretty much in the know kind of chaps.
Rodgers dismisses talk of dressing room 'unrest':

That happened and is quite common knowledge however I am hearing that Mignolet told Brendan it wasn't all his fault they concede so many goals but probably not in such a nice fashion - got this from my driver mate.
What with all the strife & turmoil at Liverpool right now you would think this kind of thing would be best left in the dressing room wouldn't you.

Really does look like BWB has lost it.

I wasn't serious... Likewise, I figured he wouldn't hit the ground running. But I'm sure he'll succeed there (unless they lose patience quickly and offload him elsewhere - which would be pretty stupid).

Can't see it at all, a lot of money or not. If things went tits up at Alteitco then maybe but I see no signs of those tits yet.

So this transfer committee is a farce where the manager isn't getting who he wants and is then not playing the players that the committee force on him.

Meanwhile there's dressing room unrest and a retired player with the best if intentions destroying the lack of defence intelligence of our manager.

Regardless of my personal opinion, we all know that this situation cannot continue.

CIE - lets say he is on 50k a week there and we say you can have 100k a week and 50m to spend + what you get rid of - you really think he would turn that down ? a double your money offer

According to reports he is on 2.5euro - 40k a week - Athleticos annual revenue is only 90m - money would talk here

The question is more to do with would you offer the 50m + whatever sold for him in the transfer market after so much spent already? And if he wanted more money, he'd be in a strong position for a renewal at Atletico after winning the league surely?

You sure? Remember someone like Button - he said he'd give up the money for a world title. Money isn't everything. In addition if he does well for a season or two more he could easily get one of the really big clubs interested in him with high wages again. Would you choose to go to a place that it sounds like you have little control on buying players with a team in low confidence? Sounds like a pretty easy way to potentially risk the reputation you built up recently.

And the fact is that he didn't win anything and would have if he'd sorted his defence.

Rodgers style isn't about lots of goals everywhere, unless you mean lots of goals conceded from everywhere. Last season was a big Suarez sized blip. Just look at his goals and assists.

Its not really about one or the other though is it? He is useless at setting up a team to defend, every one of us agrees on that. Yet he is on record as saying that he doesn't need nor want a defensive coach. That's a pretty serious blind spot in a simple game like football.

You believe that he can turn this around continuing the way he is. Or by buying a striker. I believe that the problems are much much deeper than this.

As for Rafa, again the facts are there for all to see. He is proven at the highest level.
Sorting out the defensive could have changed the goals which may also have made the difference. You could question if it just came down to a Gerrard slip in many way.

I think we'd have similar if we had a reasonable goalscorer this season - maybe not as many but a lot more than we currently have. Defensive - agree and I think everyone else does too.

Rafa - could be good, but you have previously said you don't want him back. I also think he's not the best at signing players either. It's a question with Rodgers since there is all this discussion about who has permission for that.

You are missing the point - there total revnue in 2013 was only 89m - they can only offer so much
Liverpool will always be able to blow them out of the water when it comes to money due to how much we get from tv money in the prem and our commercial side to theirs.

If someone offered you double your wage for doing the same job but the new company was not doing as well as your current but you going could change that, would you take their offer?

I know you could offer more money. But if he wanted more money, I'm sure he'd push for it after a very strong season last year, I haven't heard anything about him doing that. I'm not saying here that he could get the same money from Atletico as at Liverpool, but that if he wanted more he could at least try to force it out of Altetico. Doesn't seem that kind of manager to me.

And it's not quite that simple is it? In my current job, yes. If I was a football manager in his position on 40k a week at the champions of Spain, no. He's a young manager building a great reputation. By moving to Liverpool he'd be risking it at an early stage... look at AVB now after he swapped Porto for Chelsea. If I was him I'd rather stay at Atletico and continue to build with them for another season or two at the very least. Providing that goes well, his stock is only going one way.

The thing about Simeone is that, whilst he's undoubtedly a great manager, he's so far unobstructed at Atletico. It seems if he wants a player, he gets them, within reason. The club is set up well and just like Southampton, that shows from the top to the bottom.

He wouldn't have the same luxury at LFC. He'd be undermined at each transfer window by Ayre and the dam TC!
