Robbie Savage picks apart BR's £206,500,000 spend and "does not have much to show for it". Quite a good article.

Really? I thought it was rubbish tbh.

Lallana and Markovic = miss? I don't think so.
I don't think you read it properly to be honest. Have another go.
Read it properly, still think it's rubbish.

This is how LFC runs as a club, not liking it is fine, blaming the Manager really isn't.

We buy lots of young potential, not proven 50m players on big wages. If people can't accept it then that's a shame, but it is the way it is.

The Tompkins times column regarding Clubs/Transfer budgets/Spending should be compulsory reading imo.

Again, go back and read the article. Robbie makes exactly the points you are making.

His comment on Lallana and Markovic clearly says that they may come good and have shown recent signs of it...but as of today he would label them as misses.

He also makes the point that it's all well and good buying for the future/potential, but if you get sacked in the interim you're a bit stuffed.

Only when people take the time to post an article and then people criticise it without bothering to read it properly.

Despite his current deal having two and a half seasons to run, Sterling has seen his contract situation at Anfield become a talking point.
Sterling's versatility in being able to operate as a striker has provided under-pressure boss Brendan Rodgers with a welcome boost, and Gerrard hopes to see the 20-year-old stick around for a lot longer

He told a number of national newspapers: "I hope he signs a new contract at the club because I think this club is perfect for him, certainly for the next few years.
"He's going to play most weeks, the fans love him here. He can progress here and become a top, top player here so I hope the people around him give him the right advice because he should stay here.
"He's great to watch, great to play with, he's got that pace. When you look up he's always giving you an option and that's what I've thrived on throughout my career at Liverpool with the likes of Fernando Torres, Michael Owen.
"There's nothing better as a midfielder when you look up and see pace running in behind. I saw it on numerous occasions [against Bournemouth in midweek] and hopefully it will continue because it stretches teams and creates chances."
Sterling's brace in a 3-1 win at Bournemouth on Wednesday was a real pressure reliever after a run of poor results.
His finishing was also impressive, having squandered a number of clear-cut chances at Manchester United on Sunday.
"You've got to be able to have that [versatility] in your locker if you want to be top drawer," added Gerrard.
"Raheem's got potential to be top drawer for sure. He took a lot of stick after the weekend but I thought his all-round performance was magnificent, the only thing that was missing was a finish and that came [against Bournemouth].
"The exciting thing for all of us is that he's English and going to be a top, top player. I think he can play anywhere along the front, he's that intelligent. He's got to keep learning, he's got to keep wanting it.

The point I have been making lately - having him upfront is giving us so many more attacking options - with space being created for others - Rodgers should have listened to Jammy earlier and we probably would not be in the position we are in now.

He's a very good player and one we should be mindful of accommodating. That is, if he wants to play in midfield then you can't stick him up front and expect him to be happy and we should be keeping him happy as that's going to be better for the club in the long-term.

However, you're right, certainly in the short-term. The squad has a lot of midfielders and not enough forwards. Especially if Borini isn't going to get a kick for whatever reason. It's very easy to pick a defensive team and be left with Sterling, Coutinho and Lallana fighting for one position. If Sterling is happy to play as a striker then it's the obvious solution and I think it's part of our best team at the moment.

Miraculous recovery. I expected him to be out for longer. What happened? Was he set on fire and put out with a shovel?

I must admit the Benzema rumour/news isn't exciting me ( £50m is alot for him IMO ) . Personally I think someone like jackson martinez would be a better choice looking to the future.

Rumours circulating we will pay €6m to recall Origi in January.
1 goal every 429 minutes for Lille in the league so far this season.
€6m for a gamble on a player who may not be better than what we have at the moment frown
I think Sterling could play up top till Sturridge is back.
Will give Markovic, Lallana, Coutinho all time to play.
Think we have to discount Fabio Borini as a Liverpool player nowadays.

Also, Benzema?
Won't leave Real Madrid. Why would he? Who would replace him?
Players like Benzema don't come to teams like us. Unless we went and bought 2 or 3 other £40m players and made a statement that we wanted to compete for the league and the champions league.
