I took the time and trouble to watch his post match interview (after being burnt earlier ) and he made me cringe again.
On about the second goal, he said it wasn't about "organisation and set-ups", it was on about decision making. So is he saying he doesn't coach the defence and lets THEM make the decision as to whether they challenge or not?
He's a weird interviewee.

I genuinely believe we'll get top 6 very least, I get what you're saying about defence and transfers but performance wise that was on a different planet to some of the rubbish we have seen this season.
To get top 6 we need to score more and concede less. Win more games. I think the last 3 games with the new formation have had us playing better...but with no-one who can score reliably, and the possibility of leaking goals so alarmingly, no I'm not that positive. We need Sturridge back and firing, or someone to rely on to open up the oppo and score some goals. And we need our defensive coaching to change (apparently). Without that, we won't be top 6. Not if we keep dropping points like we have been.GloverMart said:

I actually switched off before the interview today. BWB is just making it up as he's going along and his inability to sort the defence out will cost him his job.
When do you think this will happen now then?If he's still here in January then what he gets in terms of funds will be very telling.
The targets at the beginning of the season were very clear. He's failed the first one and got knocked out if the group stage in the Champions League that included a shameful line up away to Madrid. I don't think we'll get top 4 and the owners have already made their opinion on domestic cup progress clear with Dalglish.
Add that his signings on the whole are still misfiring and everyone can see that he's got any idea whatsoever of how to set up a defence.
If things stay like this then I'm not sure how he'd stay in his job.
The first sign of whether the owners keep faith with him is if they back him in January, that's if he gets that far. All in my opinion of course.

I want him to get more game time before we write him off, Sunderland fans blooming love/loved him, must be for some reasons and I do see glimpses...

We wont get top 6, we leak too many goals and I dont think we will see Sturridge back for at least another 2-3 months.
Things that, with a credible transfer policy, we could sort.
But with TC's & moneyball ste we dont have that.

Might seem crazy now but I always say wait until end of Jan and I stick by that.ManU have been dreadful and ye have won a lot of points, that run will end at some point surely?
Two teams are in a different league this year, the rest are fair game imo and Xmas/Jan alway rocks the table.

Ok. Let's turn this around. Where will we have to have finished for you to think he'll be gone?

Firstly, I cant see the point of sacking him mid season, unless we fancy Tony Pulis. The targets at the beginning of the season were very clear. The season's been shocking so far, no doubt.
If FSG are trying to build a club that has a 'system' then it won't really matter - they won't go for a 'top name' manager as they will insist on to much control of transfer policy.
Despite misgivings I'd give him to the end of the season and see where we are.

Back him in January? They don't back him, that's been quite clear these past few months - they back the TC.anonymous said:

Imagine if he'd come out and said we don't stand a chance in hell of getting top four. Imagine the slating he'd get in here then. "Out of options" and "throwing in the towel" as some are so fond of saying.Give over Jammy, the targets can be found if you want to bother looking. The top 4 is a given and there was a clear target to get out of the group stages.
Next 3 games over Xmas. I'd want 9 points but even BWBs fans would want 7 points I think. I think we'll get 4 points personally and the season will just limp along.
Burnley (a)
Swansea (h)
Leicester (h)

He has to get to the end of the season - that will be a true measure of *progress* ... compared to last year.
God knows what'll happen though ... is it really 2-3 months until Sturridge will be fit again - so basically the whole season missed? In that case you're doing pretty well ... especially with that defence - which IS shocking for the most part.
If you don't concede any you've only got to score ONE with no strikers to win the game - pretty simple. Get the defence sorted (always Maureen's first priority) and then develop from there. Comedy defending at times, Skytel is too much of a liability in defence (leaving out his *heroics* of today) and Sako just worries me when in possession. Where was GJ? - injured?
Borini is his own worst enemy - Italian temperament did for him - gotta reign that in - bad management they call it. BR should be in these players ears as to what is expected on the discipline side, it's just poor.

Whilst anything that goes wrong seems to be levelled at brendan that's not a fair statement. Its really got nothing to do with bad management and all to do with stupid player behaviour.Edited by uk66fastback on Monday 22 December 01:13
