I read yesterday we are looking around February when Sturridge will be back.
I can't see 10th January when he is still in America getting treatment.
January we should spend £20m on Bony. Try and offload Borini for £10m. Minimal loss on him then.

So fellow Liverpool fans, what do you want Santa to bring us?
In no particular order I'd like:
+ A defence coach
+ A new keeper
+ Sturridge fit, plus a decent back up
+ Fans that are slightly less hysterical than a Belieber with PMT
Hyppia to have already been offered a job as defensive coach, a reliable keeper, Sturridge and a new striker in January, and finally an unbeaten streak that gets us a decent top 4 finish. In no particular order I'd like:

Just been looking up some of the defence stats on one of the fantasy football websites. Believe it or not, we don't stack up too badly in terms of the shots and chances that we concede. For example this season, only Chelsea, Man city, Arsenal and Southampton have conceded fewer shots than us, yet we've conceded far more goals than them! Interestingly we come out 2nd highest to Leicester in 'big chances conceded', so even though we give the opposition few shots, we must be giving them a lot of easy chances? The big problems we have seem to have are individual errors - 20 in total, 6 of which led to goals. In comparison Southampton have the best record of only 3 (leading to 2 goals). Also for all the grief Glen Johnson gets (and I agree he deserves it!), only Man City have conceded fewer chances from the right flank! Finally, since Lucas has been playing we have conceded fewer chances from central positions (which I think we all know would be the case). I tried putting all the stats here but they don't format well when copied/pasted
So I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but the stats would suggest that defensively we are set up OK and we are limiting the other team's chances. Bringing in a defensive coach will probably help a bit, but it won't stop the individual errors which are the biggest problem!

Interesting, thanks for posting this. I do wonder though if some of the individual errors are a result of poor positioning or a lack of confidence in those around the individual. Frankly, I crap myself when Mingolet has the ball at his feet so I'd imagine the defence do too. A new manager. Oh and the BWBs coat. In no particular order I'd like:

Seriously, Sterling needs to sign a contract.

Yes I'm sure that is the case, as well as being expected to play a certain way i.e. passing it out from the back (I noticed on Sunday that Brad Jones kicked out of hands on a few occasions - I don't think I saw SM do that once in all the games he played this season! So is BJ ignoring BR telling him to pass it out to his defenders?!) Here's another nugget for you - which two defenders top the premier league for mistakes this season?
Lovren 4 errors leading to chances 3 errors leading to goals
Skrtle 4 errors leading to chances 0 errors leading to goals
In 31 matches last season Lovren made 0 errors leading to chances and 1 error leading to goals please can whoever abducted the real Lovren bring him back please

You can see why we paid 20m for Lovren. Who could predict he'd be so bad this season? Still, there's a player in there somewhere. We should give him a chance to come back into form.
His head's already at Liverpool.No....wait, I mean......his head's already at Real Madrid.
He only looked good last season because he had Schneiderlein, Cork or big Vic in front of him. I was fooled too, and I was dismayed when he st-canned us after only one season for you lot. We got a fair price though, I thought at the time.
Now I think we had an absolutely cracking deal, replaced him with a better defender and stitched you lot up a treat in the process.

Lovren isn't dynamic enough to play behind our open midfield. But in spite of this I've just not seen any of the leadership qualities that were made reference to when we signed him. Agger was a much better defender, even with the injuries.
Neither Agger or Skrtel were natural leaders though. Our defence started going to pot when Jamie retired.RedTrident said:
And has Lovren displayed the leadership qualities that BWB referred to when signing him?
No, not at all - certainly not going to suggest otherwise! But yes, that's supposedly what we were buying him for. Clearly something has gone badly wrong - he's not the player he looked last year at all.Legend83 said:

I do agree though Bony is probably worth a bit more than £20m now but not much more. He might bang them in but I don't think he warrants a price of £30m.
