I expected a bit of a battering tonight so pleased with the performance but could have done with winning.

We will still be underdogs for the next round and all pressure on the league leaders.

It does but you're defence will come under intense pressure from Hazard, Costa and gang in the 2nd leg and their home record is formidable whilst your defence away isn't.

Good try tonight though.
That I agree with 100% beer

Good second half for your mob. I reckon with Sturridge back, you'll easily avoid the drop.

Well the upside is if we did drop at least we would have chance of winning the league wink

Fantastic all round performance tonight from the whole team... Just goes to show that last season wasn't only about Suarez.. Tonight We were overall stronger 'particularly in defence', than at any point last season.. Hypothetically adding Suarez and Sturridge to tonight's team would of without doubt produced a win... The whole team now have belief in themselves for the first time this season.. With Sturridge back and an- other striker alongside him we are well and truly back in business.. And we are playing proper exciting football at the same time.. Funny how a few weeks can make a world of difference.

Wow - just watched game having worked late tonight and managing to avoid any scores or updates.

The interplay up front was excellent and on the whole the defence looked fairly solid. Thought Carragher's comments about Can at half time were pretty harsh - especially saying he had no pace?! Hazard is quicker than most players and Can dealt with him fairly well all game and brought the ball out excellently.

Anyway - looking forward to the 2nd leg. I'm hoping Sturridge might be on the bench by then as another option if we need it. In any case, I believe we can do it!!!

Will be interesting to see what sort of team play against Bolton on Saturday - I think Rodgers might rest Gerrard, Sterling and Coutinho and play Lallana, Borini and Lambert.

1 of the delights last night was hearing the crowd roaring when we went forward. Made me feel how it used to make me feel watching Liverpool. Reminded me how use to quiet crowds we've got. Must have been quite something to be there. Hopefully that momentum can be kept up more often going forward now.

It was something else, it was either last night or Everton last year for my best game i've ever been to.

http://www.footylounge.com/films//lfc-tiki-taka/lu... - Lucas v Chelsea - If Matic had put in a performance like this people would have been wking themselves off over it - LUCAS is playing as good as anyone right now

https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-cl=84359240&amp... - Dont think I am being biased here but at the moment he is as good to watch as any player in the premiership - the way he makes space when fronted by the opposition is fantastic - if he could improve his finishing he could be our very own Hazard - certainly has the ability with the ball at his feet.

Have to agree with this and the win/loss stats speak for themselves so why are you trying to get rid?

Totally agree, if Coutinho played for City or Chelsea, everyone would be talking about him.

He has consistently stood out for us this season.

Hope that helps.

Weren't quite a few on here earlier this year saying Coutinho was anonymous and didn't deserve a starting spot?

Yes, he had a poor (for him at least) start to the season, however with his skill he should have been picked considering he would have been rusty from a summer without football (unlike many others).
