Feel sorry for all those fans who made the trip. A few on here were very excited about it, then Bodge puts a team out like that.
I don't and if you check BlackST's post neither do they Nice try.

It would be criminal to start with Gerrard again.
http://www.pistonheads.com/Gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...Don't mean to make it look like I'm picking on you, I know you hate that. And I'm sure there were some that agreed with you at the time.
The fact is your statement is absolute. You don't say he shouldn't start as a deep lying quarter back again, or he shouldn't start [/i]unless bla bla bla[/i] you simply say he shouldn't start for us again.
You seem to be able to choose your words carefully enough to get your point across most of the time - some might say it gets rammed down our throats after every loss or poor performance. I would have thought it you meant something else you would have said it.
Way to change the subject.
But, the line up is clearly very defensive. Obviously BR has grown impatient of Lovren's mistakes - unless he's injured? Some of the players just haven't been stepping up recently, so why give them glory of playing RM? I wouldn't quite stretch that to Sterling.
Looks to me like this is a continuation of BR's plan against Newcastle to drop some of the attacking strategy in favour of containing the opponent. I think he's trying to get to half time still at 0-0 and then bring on some attacking options in the second half to hit on the counter with some fresh legs.
To me it's the best strategy of saving our best legs if the tie is already over by half time or maybe grabbing a point in this game but also saving some of our best players for the league - in which we also badly need points at the moment. Forget nostalgia.

That's a pretty charitable point of view.Looks to me like this is a continuation of BR's plan against Newcastle to drop some of the attacking strategy in favour of containing the opponent. That's an unbelievable team. Looks like he's basically throwing the game.
Why Unbelievable ?Which player left out has proven themselves Irreplaceable lately ?
We all know this was a game we would be extremely lucky to get anything from, so why not give some of the players brought in to improve the team a chance ?
Well, I think it's mostly Markovic I'm most displeased about, he'll be completely out of his depth tonight. The midfield although second string on paper on reflection I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do, and also Borini up front is the most mobile forward we have.
My view a month ago that we'd be getting humped tonight hasn't changed, put it that way
