I'm quite surprised how Henderson has gone under the radar with his contract.

Next club captain in waiting, only 12 months left.

I wonder if he's waiting to see how much RS gets as he's going to want similar.

I feel for you lot....as a Gooner we went through a lot of this st from 2005 to 2013. It certainly feels like he's been tapped up/his agent has put the For Sale sign up. Liverpool were pretty aggressive in how they retained Suarez and RS doesn't have a clause like he apparently had.

This must be the first instance of a footballer going on national television, without his club's permission, to discuss his contract renewal negotiations.

Terrific stuff.

Thanks, chap. Suarez had also proven himself to be one of the best players in the world. Sterling is good, but not that good. This has 'agent' written all over it. I don't blame Sterling 100%. He's 20. What's he supposed to know? I wouldn't do/say again all the things I did when I was 20.

I think he should go.

Not been overly good this season in my opinion and his behaviour is shocking. Play IBe for the rest of the season.

I agree,

It all sounds to me like 'I want to play for a club that is in the CL'*

  • Because they will pay me £200k/week

Just tell him close the door on the way out....doesn't want to be here, that's quite obvious. Off with him, on the best terms possible for LFC.

The Sterling thing is a tough one for me. Who has any right to say 'he's not going anywhere'?

I'm not too sure about him 'owing' us anything? We brought him into the team and he's performed very well, particularly last season.

He is getting paid ~£35k and I would consider that a bargain for the quality of player he is. If he doesn't sign in the summer, then we will sell him on for a tidy sum, which makes it all round good business for LFC.

Sterling is a decent player, and if he stays good, and if he leaves and we get a tidy some, still good.

fk him. I don't want my club held to ransom by someone who basically, as things stand, amounts to a one (and a half) season wonder.

20 years old and so out of touch with reality already.

Ah, the beautiful game...

I think that's just an excuse. "It's not about money...it's about football".

Read a journo's piece yesterday which pointed out when he went to Anfield it was at the end of the st show that was the Hicks and Gillett era with many (with due respect to Liverpool) better placed teams at that time also trying to sign him....he went to Anfield because they offered him the best deal.

He and his agent both know that Man City and Chelsea both have a desperate need to sign English "homegrown" players...especially City with most of the squad banging on the door of 30.

Sterling wants to play in a team that wins things. He'll have seen first hand the exodus of world class talent and the decline of the club captain who will leave frustrated even though he gave it his all.

He owes us nothing. If we get top 4 we have a chance of keeping him, if we don't then it'll be 50 million from Chelsea or City or even Arsenal.

Our manager's outburst was immature. Hopefully it doesn't affect us tomorrow.

Saw that on tv at the time. Also got that on video. And still watched that clip all the way through and cheered when the 4th went in. What a game that was.

Me too. Still got my VHS copy of MOTD from that night somewhere.

Was Collymore left footed?

I think he was just one of those players who could actually USE his left foot for something.
