I have to say I am losing my faith in BR. I still think he should be given the full season and re-evaluate after the season is over. But trying to offer Johnson a new contract - I am sorry, BR has no idea on buying quality or letting go of has-beens.

Sorry. The story of extending Johnson's contract is like a step too far.

Listening to Talksport in the car earlier - they said the same as I posted earlier. He's apparently currently on £120k a week. The offer of a 60k a week is a "please bugger off now" offer in their opinion too.

I imagine there are lots of performance bonuses in there to bump that back up. I imagine he's one of the last on big wages without any incentives to perform.

I'd be happy to keep Johnson if he was to sign a contract that encouraged him to perform!

Would this be one of those 'magic' contracts that also contains a healthy dose of talent?

He has/had talent. Two seasons ago he was up there as one of our best players I'd say. Maybe not the best positionally but a great attacking RB - arguably England's best. He just not trying at the moment.

Well he WAS one of the best a couple of seasons ago, as said. Just looking lazy now. Hardly surprising with no incentive to perform...

Yes Johnson is a strange decision, he hasn't performed well for months and has always been weak defensively.

We have young Flanno who can play RB, i wouldn't be offering GJ a contract, unless someone is needed to mop out the bogs at Melwood

Johnson hasn't performed well from the moment he realised his lucrative contract was under threat. He'll be following his mate Cashly.

Johnson is a no for me, to slow now and not agile enough to play FB like BR likes!

We must sign a striker jan but I worry we will take cheap option and go for Origi! Which will be a mistake

I don't know why Cole gets stick for that. Wasn't he offered 55k a week? For arguably the best LB (or in the top few at least) in world football I'd say they were taking the piss with that kind of offer.

I'll bet he's gutted having left though with his League, FA and Champs winners medals sitting in the cabinet.

(I know you are talking about him going abroad...but the use of the Cashly bit was my comment).

I think the cashly bit cane from him leaving Arsenal for Chelsea.

Without doubt a very good fullback but Johnson has faded badly these last 2 seasons. Cashly could arguably have still got a starting 11 position in most premier league teams. This isn't the case with Johnson. I've watched him pretty much every game he's played the last 2 seasons and if I'm honest, he doesn't seem bothered.

Lost his sharpness, very slow at getting back, and does not seem fit enough to play the mordern fullback anymore...

With Manquillo and Flannagan we can cope without him. Dont forget Wisdom

You see that is the difference. Mourinho knows when to say goodbye. Names like Lampard, Joe Cole, Ashley Cole and to a certain extent, Petr Cech. Rodgers hasn't got a clue. Extending Gerrard is an emotional decision rather than a rational one. Extending Johnson is pure idiocy.

Keep repeating myself about Johnson, only the Mirror, Star and Mail are reporting this - why not wait till a proper news source reports it before slagging BR or LFC off?

Anyone know the truth behind the Remy thing?
