Rafa is proven at punching above his weight. The main excuse here is that if you're the 5th highest spender then don't expect to finish above 5th. Rafa finished higher than his spending record and won cups.

The manager we need must be able to compete in spite of having teams around him be able to spend more than him. Rafa achieved this at both Liverpool and Valencia. This is what is currently going on with Athletico Madrid and Klopp has done this several times also.

Rodgers is just a bad experiment. He's out of his depth and got a footballing lesson from Aston Villa and the master tactician Tim Sherwood.

I think we can't expect to regularly outperform teams who consistently outspend us and are doing so from a strong base.

Rafa left us 7th.
We then went 6th 8th 7th

I can't find a salary table for 04 to 10. Scrub that - Found one.

Despite the knives out for Rodgers, and a few crap performances including today, he's done no worse than any other recent manager.

Bored of the championship managers on here.

Wasn't able to watch it - what do we wrong (feel free to include player details as well as I fear it will be about BR).

Not a great performance and our second goal should have stood.

Aston Villa played with belief and despite the last 15 minutes were the better team.

What, you want him too? He's only 20 and has only had a handful of games in the Prem...

People expecting better need only click on this link

It was a poor display against a good Villa side, playing well under Sherwood.

Hopefully we will stick by BR until January at least, I think this season has been tough for a lot of reasons frown

I don't know if im Rodgers out, i don't really think i have any feelings either way, what i do know however is that we need some more quality in the squad and sure, Champions League football helps to attract this, but ask yourself, do the top players want to play under a manager who has no real achievements at the top level.

Good article online in the mirror today analysing the whole scenario. Can't link sorry but gist was so many of yesterday's squad are leaving or past it they were it capable of being motivated and were not really rebuilding until next season as so many poor buys need replacing.

It also covered the "invincible'" effect a confident charismatic manager can bring to a failing squad perfectly - for now Sherwood has it , I dont think Bren ever had it as last season it was Suarez giving the otters a hard on end our good run this season was luck, style and better coaching but that came unstuck and confidence drained.

I think Bren has took us as far as the transfer committee, FSG and his talent will allow - I don't think many / any can take us further but a stronger proven man can rule the place in a better manner and change these things I am sure.
