A Decade of Big-Club Transfer Spending - BY Paul Tomkins
It's like he can read my mind!A Decade of Big-Club Transfer Spending - BY Paul Tomkins
I think this season will be defined by what happens between now and end of January.
I hope Borini and Lambert get a proper run of games to prove themselves.

Strong rumours in Liverpool he failed a drugs test -
Dont know if true or not - but thats the word on the street
Would be odd, though, if he failed Liverpool's drug test and passed Chelsea's -- especially as we have history of getting rid (Adrian Mutu) with extreme prejudice. Dont know if true or not - but thats the word on the street

Not really - if it was something like class A that stays in your system for 2-4 days - 4days being an extreme user m3sye said:

Raja mentions a 20 goal a season man and someone who can play accross a front 3, then mentions Bony. Does not compute.
He got 16 in the prem last year, and has 4 this year from 9 ? so not far off - he certainly would score 20 in all comps - he got 25 last year for the swans Edited by m3sye on Friday 21st November 10:05
Brendan Rodgers admits news of Daniel Sturridge's latest setback has come as a blow to Liverpool – and confirmed the club will launch an investigation into his injury issues.
The 25-year-old's spell on the sidelines is set to be extended after the Reds announced on Wednesday he had suffered a new thigh problem.
It's the third successive injury Sturridge has sustained this season, meaning he hasn't figured since August.
Rodgers said: "It's hugely disappointing to lose a player of that quality.
"It happened in a session and it was quite innocuous. He did it when he just flicked the ball, it wasn't a shot or anything that looked serious.
"But obviously he felt the pain and then when the medical team told me the next day after the scan it was disappointing.
"Whether Daniel needs to see a specialist is something that the medical team are looking into.
"I think that's his ninth injury on that thigh from previous clubs and here so there is an issue there somewhere.
"The scan shows a slight tear just below where he had a previous injury."
With Sturridge set to miss further action, Rodgers is urging other players within the squad to step up and grasp any opportunities that may come their way.
"Now we just have to concentrate and focus on the players we do have," the manager added. "It's that simple - make the best of what we have available.
"At this moment in time it's about what is within the squad because that's the players we have available.
"It will present an opportunity to the guys who have maybe been on the sidelines for quite a while.
"We can't worry about what we had last season or what we have lost. We have to look at the players we have. We have an exciting period of games coming up.
"We want to ensure we go back to our basics and be really hard to beat and be strong and aggressive.
"We want to make an impact in front of goal. Now there's an opportunity for some players who didn't think they would get a chance."

Totally agree, bringing just Origi back will be a mistake - he is not the answer for goals, he needs to be playing with someone and not have the expectation placed on him as soon as he arrives. We need to spend big on 1 striker this Jan - more important than any position for me.

The Times‘ Rory Smith writing of “exasperation” among Rodgers’ staff at Sturridge’s progress.
Smith explains that Sturridge’s first two injuries (both grade 1 strains) would usually require 12 to 20 days’ rest, but Sturridge “needed twice that for the thigh strain and a month, more or less, for the calf problem. On both occasions, the striker was told by the club’s medical team that he was ready to train before he felt he was.”

Clearly they were wrong as even with an extended period out he manages to get crocked again.Smith explains that Sturridge’s first two injuries (both grade 1 strains) would usually require 12 to 20 days’ rest, but Sturridge “needed twice that for the thigh strain and a month, more or less, for the calf problem. The biggest barrier to doing this is Brendan himself who seldom picks the best team or formation - he seldom makes the best of what we have available - I wish he would listen to himself at times."At this moment in time it's about what is within the squad because that's the players we have available.

Q Your best striker is injured, you have a misfiring "unsuitable for the lone striker role" player and 2 others not getting a look in. Do you
a. keep choosing the unsuitable for the lone striker role in exactly that role, or do you
b. play 2 up front as you did before best player was injured and bring in 1 of the other 2 not getting a look in?!
7/10 Because he runs more
Mario Balotelli insists he will soon hit a scoring streak as he shrugged off criticism about the slow start he's made to his Liverpool career.
The £16million frontman has only scored twice in 14 appearances for the Reds and is still awaiting his first Premier League goal for the club ahead of Sunday's trip to Crystal Palace.
Asked to rate his performances out of 10 this season, Balotelli gave himself a seven, saying that he has never worked harder during his career.
“Seven because I run more than before,” he told Fox Sports Australia.
“Because goals, they will come. It is something that’s just not coming at the moment. But it's not something that has just gone.
“Run, like I’m running now, I’ve never run like this.”
Balotelli has struggled to deliver during the prolonged absence of fellow striker Daniel Sturridge.
But the former Manchester City frontman says he knows he retains the faith of those people who matter to him.
“I don’t need people to believe in me so long as I believe in myself,” he said. “The important people for me are my family and my few close friends, as long as they believe in me.
“Some think because I didn't score and didn't start well this season that I can't be one of the top players, a really good player for this team. That's their business.
“I don't care what stories people say about me because I know they are lying.”

Doubt that very much. Hardly likely to be able to fake a scan.
Oh absolutely, but there does seem to be a bit of a campaign coming out of the club that he isn't helping the situation, 2nd or 3rd report I have seen this week from 'club insiders' hinting at things. He obviously cannot fake the scan but perhaps he isn't putting in the effort required in rehab and physio work to strengthen and repair his muscles?
