Everyone is making it sounds like we're needing to rebuild from scratch again. However when you look at those players quite a few don't make it onto the bench let alone the main team.
Johnson - player who most people on here have said is not good enough and was just wanting the money move at the end of the season.
Borini - tried to move him on already, has almost never played
Lambert - not really been given a chance, but never was supposed to be a first team player anyway.
Balotelli - doesn't fit our style at all, got almost no goals anyway so no loss.
Gerrard - legend, but isn't good enough to be a main part of the team these days.
Brad Jones - didn't do well when he had the few games, but Mignolet has also stepped up and improved a lot
Toure - wasn't a big signing, has done ok sometimes
Manquillo - loan deal, ended up not really getting games. Whole part of loan deal is to deepen squad/ test how a player is so no big loss.
Need to make sure we don't lose Skrtel, he's one of the few members of the team who have a bit of grit, not just talent/ potential talent. If we add a good striker, and maybe one or two experience decent players to help work with the potential talent we have think next season could be pretty ok.
Was definitely my feeling. "Losing 10 stars" makes great headlines but frankly none of them have been this season. Skrtel should be kept but otherwise - Johnson and Gerrard were great but haven't been this season. And Toure was - but mainly for other teams in the past. All part of the natural turnover of players who turn out not to be "keepers".Johnson - player who most people on here have said is not good enough and was just wanting the money move at the end of the season.

“Liverpool Football Club is a fantastic club and hugely popular across our global footprint."Global footprint. Yeah, ok.
Gerrard must have this cross his mind. Torres to Chelsea was very recent. Who knows what goes on in the dressing room, behind closed doors etc. Maybe he's decided Bodge isn't the man who can take him to the level he wants to be at.
From what I can see the lad wants to move back down south and wants to play at a higher level where he wins trophies. I personally don't think he'll get as much pitch time at the likes of Chelsea, maybe will at Arsenal. If he were to move to City, he'd get as much as Navas I think.
I'd rather we just sell him, 30 million right there. Add a few other wasters and the new manager will have a 100 million war chest.
30 million - Sterling
7 million - Borini
8 million - Allen
10 million - Balotelli
10 million - Marcovic
10 million - fillers like Lambert, Louis Alberto, Coates etc etc
25 million - new money
We need a new full back, centre midfielder, wide player and striker. Then fill the squad with the younger talent we've been buying/developing.

I cant see them selling Markovic - worth giving a bit more time too - remember we are playing him RWB , bet the lad has never had to defend in his life never mind play FB. - Worth keeping for another year for me From what I can see the lad wants to move back down south and wants to play at a higher level where he wins trophies. I think the problem selling Sterling is it really sends out the wrong message to other players - to everyone looking in he is our best player so if he goes that would be a 2nd year running our best has left - for me keep, sort this wage ste out and get him playing his best position, behind a decent striker or out wide.
The others I would be willing to let go.
Well fking done West Ham

This is brilliant - and all other clubs should take note - a price freeze is just not good enough, £59 to watch us v Newcastle is a joke

I think the Hammers are a unique case because they are going to try and promote footfall into the new mahoosive stadium and encourage both existing fans to make the switch and encourage new fans into the stadium. I think it's a wise move on their part.http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32399291

I'll be interested to see if any other clubs try it.

No idea how I forgot that. I wasn't even drunk! Thanks
With regard to the "war chest" point - the transfer budget is just one aspect. We need to pay the wages, year in year out. We are 5th in that table, buy a decent margin.
To buck the wages trend we need a magician or a LOT of luck.

In reality £30-£40 is more than enough to charge for a normal ticket with the money being thrown around at premiership clubsI'll be interested to see if any other clubs try it.

Don't get me wrong, I hear you. However it's a race isn't it? Unless they all do it, then they'll be losing ground in the money race (and hence player wages/funds race).m3sye said:

ETA: I hope Spurs do a similar thing when they finally get round to it, but knowing Levy he'll just charge more.

I'm with hornet on this. They are adding 20,000 seats to the stadium size and will want to be selling out as much as possible. I'm guessing that when you do the sums on season ticket sales etc they will come out in line or ahead of current revenue. With the added benefit of more people in the ground buying tat.

Agree too - although all clubs should be taking this stance, they can ALL afford it in the prem ETA: I hope Spurs do a similar thing when they finally get round to it, but knowing Levy he'll just charge more.

I'd say it entirely up to the player to get to the level he wants. You get out, what you put in.I'd rather we just sell him, 30 million right there. Add a few other wasters and the new manager will have a 100 million war chest.
What new manager is that then?
This is all getting a bit déjà vu - this exact time last year we were talking about selling star players, having a clear out, big transfer budgets, fabulous new players who have had one good season and are now worth loads a money, what positions we need, how much for each player we could sell.
We've seen that large wholesale changes aren't a good thing.
