I think Rodgers greatest weakness is that he seems to want to be every players friend. He wants to lead by consensus, and seeks approval from the Liverpool players. He wants to be their 'mate'.

I can't think of a successful, winning manager that has this attitude.

Not sure that is right, ask Downing!

Whilst I agree with the facts that you've stated above, you are missing one thing. Rodgers can't blame the hand he's been dealt, he's a manager. He should have adapted the style of play to suit his available resources. Mario Balotelli is Italy's main striker, and a proven goal scoring winner, and Rodgers clearly stated early on that he couldn't form a team that could service Balotelli. He expected Balotelli to magically change his game by becoming a super fast runner that could fit to Rodgers team, when clearly this was impossible. Within days he was undermining Balotelli and effectively making him a back up plan player, sidelining him. That would be a good idea if Sturridge was fit, but he never was.

The job of a manager if to form a team from the available resources. Balotelli was available for most of the season but was clearly never part of an overall strategy or plan. This isn't Balottellis fault, it's Rodgers.

The job of the manager is to produce a team that can win, with the resources he has. If you are forced to change your 'master plan' then that's what you have to do. To discard a player like this, when he's all you've got, is a mistake.

Balotelli isn't a crap dud. He's one of Italy's first choice strikers. He's hard to deal with as he's clearly a bit of a nutter, but that's management.
I think a number of managers would disagree with you about Balo, them Jose says he is unmanageable then you know you have problems.

BR didn't want Balo, but was over ruled in the transfer committee. Apparently a spreadsheet on balo's performance won the day

Yes BR thought he could get the best from him, but Balo game is well suited to Seria A, where he can hold the ball up and be a strong striker. Its not suited very well to the premier league demand of fast counter attack.

Watch the QPR game back, there are a few moments where Gerrard & Lallana both pull faces when Balo fails to pass to them. You could see at that moment they lost faith in the guy. He was hopeless that day. That isn't BR, thats a player thinking he knows best.

A fun Rafa fact of the day.

He has got teams to the semi of a Euro competition in 7 of the last 12 years...and in 2 of those years he was out of work.

I have said it before and ill say it again - I do generally think BR is under massive pressure, he might get away with it if we finish 5th fairly close to 4th, but 6th 7th and not close for me he will be gone - they just wont put up with that after the summer investment, especially if certain managers are available. Lets remember BR was also 3rd choice, behind 1st choice De Boer who is still at Ajax and no doubt attainable this time round. Then there is obviously Klopp who has been mentioned and who no doubt FSG are well aware of what he did with a team very similar to ours. If either of those 2 expressed an interest in LFC he will be lucky to keep his job with the year we have had, irrespective of injuries etc.

If BR does end up staying, I would want to see a shake up in his game management, in-play decision making, his team selections, the types of transfers he/FSG brings in and his back room staff. We are in need of a top defensive coach, another coach who can show the midfield exactly how to shoot a football, on target preferably. I don't ever want to see a Madrid-type selection for such an important game ever again or the type of team selection that was selected for the Arsenal or Villa games recently. Change his style of continually playing players in positions where they don't perform needs addressing. We cannot have the same manager for Year 4 as we did when he started. He needs to show signs of improvement in every department - not just simply sit on his high chair and say "I am the best man for the job - no one can do better".

The seasons over for us as fans. All that remains is for Bodge to try and keep his job. YES, I hope we get battered this weekend. Short term pain for long term gain and all that.

Awful sentiment, you should be ashamed of yourself.

There are 18 points still up for grabs and I hope we get as many as possible.

We still have an outside chance of fourth. What's the matter with you?

Disgusting.

Brendan Rodgers may well insist that he's the right man for the Liverpool job, but for those who believe otherwise there could be a ray of hope.
Sinisa Mihajlovic has agreed to leave Sampdoria to manage Napoli next season, leaving former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez without a club.
L'Equipe may well be linking him with Paris St Germain if Laurent Blanc leaves, but Red Trident will be crossing his fingers that he returns to Anfield.

The American ex FSG chap says today we're close to signing a defensive midfielder, early 20s, to slot straight into the first team. I thought it would be Carvalho but looks like he's off to Arsenal.

Carvalho would be a decent signing for anyone IMO, huge potential (but potential not the complete product) we (Utd) were linked with him under Moyes

I think there is also Fernando from someone who would fit that description you posted.

I doubt very very much I'm the only Liverpool fan who would welcome back a winner like Rafa to the club.

As for Bodge, just say he was to get sacked, is there any top club in Europe that would be in for him?

I'm not. I've stood in the kop and listened to thousands of fans scream pretty much the same when Hodgson was in charge. Deal with it. Not everyone sees things the way you do.

Interesting that FSG haven't come out to back Bodge on what he considers to be a par season.

If BR were to no longer be the manager of LFC I'd only hope that things would work out well for us under Klopp or Rafa or whoever else took his place here. That's all I'm interested in. Whoever came in for BR or wherever he went next would be of nothing more than minor curiosity to me. I'm only interested in the success of Liverpool Football Club, not seeing some personal viewpoint vindicated. I suspect that doesn't make me unique on here.
