Blow the entire transfer budget on a decent striker ? Wouldn't be the worst thing we could do.
Whilst I don't disagree with the sentiment, who is really out there and available? Europe's top scorers:http://www.eurotopfoot.com/gb/soulierdor.php3
(I did try to copy and paste here but the formatting was all over the place!)
1-5 aren't going to be available (to us anyway)
6-7 weak leagues, would they cut it in EPL
8 unavailable
9 too old
10 possible?
11 unavailable
12 too old
13 not sure what to think! is he good enough?

19 don't know much about him - he was on loan at Derby a couple of years ago
20-30 Can't be bothered to keep typing obviously we have been linked with Depay
So out of Europes top 30 there are probably only a few possibilities and you would argue that most of those are relatively unproven? i.e. only 1 or 2 good seasons so far....
Mind you, pretty much any of them would be an improvement on our strikers this season!
Sadly we are in the position now of having to find talent or develop rarther than buying in a proven goal scorer... I actually think Berahino would be a good fit for the style of football we want to play. Aside from that, it's hard to find an answer when you are trying to replace Suarez
Maybe Danny Ings might be worth a look? Could be very useful with a better team behind him.

I absolutely agree with you. I posted the stats above to make a point that its actually very difficult to find (available) top strikers, despite lots of people on here moaning about our transfers last summer and in preparation for the upcoming moaning about our upcoming transfers this summer Its very easy to say we should have / should be buying a top striker, but we really are limited to going for someone young with 1, maybe 2, good seasons behind them - basically a bit of a gamble (remind you of anyone? )

Pretty much everyone is available...if you pay the money. addey said:

Rodgers saying in public that we need two strikers for next season, can't see Balotelli staying he is just a bad apple simple as that. He's had a huge chance this season & has failed to even think about taking it, sooner he is gone the better.
Borini hasn't kicked on either, can't see him staying either....
Lambert should stay, useful back up striker & I can't get my head around why he has not been played more, he was top class for Southampton & a snip at 4M, who knows?
Out transfer budget should be spent on two top class strikers, the only problem is finding them as mentioned above! The rest of the team looks promising IMHO.
Next seasons strike force?
Sturridge, Origi, Lambert,

Trying to find one let alone two top strikers thatSturridge, Origi, Lambert,
a) suit our style of football
b) happy to not play CL football for at least one season
is going to be an almost impossible task.
£10m punts like Origi need to be seriously reviewed. Yes he is young etc but 8 goals in 40 games this season (3 of which came in one match) in a second tier league - he simply isn't the answer. In effect, bargaining on potential is highly risky and as LFC 20 year transfer history has shown, almost certainly likely to fail. The odd diamond does crop up however all we then become is a feeder club for a big money move elsewhere rather than consistently challenging for trophies.
For me next season, Liverpool of course have to get rid of the deadwood, generate enough to make 3 or 4 quality signings, keeping within FFP. If we have another revolution of 8 new players, most average or potential, then it will simply be yet another season of 'adjustment' and excuses.
Which team doesn't want 5th place most? LFC being flattered by saints and spurs who seem to not want to take it.
On the subject of two top strikers.... I think you've no chance of signing one, let alone two. Not top names.
Perhaps you should go and buy 5 or 6 promising young talents, and see if your coaching team can develop them? You'd have to be prepared to write of next season though.....
