Mignolet
Ibe Skrtel Lovren Moreno
Can Lucas Henderson
Coutinho Sterling
Mario

If Sakho's fit I'd ditch Lovren. Really looking forward to a midfield 3 of Can Lucas and Henderson. The obvious improvement there for next season is to have a box to box goalscorer in that 3. Maybe one for the window.

No idea why Gerrard started the semi nor why he should start tomorrow night. As for Mario, I'm 100% certain played right he'll score 20 goals a season.
Would you just stop posting stuff I agree with please!

Particularly the stuff about Mario.

He aint going nowhere and I'm glad of it.

Problem is Mario played "right" would mean we need to completely change our style/ team. It's been based on quick movement and passing. Mario might do well in a more static defensive team setup, but that's not our way at the moment, and I don't think a lot of our players could really play it well - they weren't bought for that. Coutinho would probably suffer a lot in that sort of team, and I'd rather we had a team around him and got a decent striker than made a team around Mario.

Coutinho can feed Mario. Even if we lose Sterling I think Lallana and Coutinho behind Mario will work providing we bring in a dynamic central midfielder that brings goals and assists.

Mario has been scapegoated imo. The manager never wanted him and the rest has been history.

The priority for the summer has to be the new central midfielder, at least one full back and a striker to complement Sturridge and Mario. Origi is a prospect, nothing more.

We need to clear out a lot of deadwood that will pay for 3 genuinely proven players. Johnson, Gerrard, Enrique, Allen, Borini and Lambert will be gone. Lovren, Laser and Mario I think will still be here or in the case of Laser be loaned out.

The question really is whether FSG will trust BR for another season. Let's be honest, he's done nothing this season to deserve another. It's not just the results or the way we've played and the decisions he's made. The interviews he's given show that he's not happy or fully on board FSGs strategy.

He's not been scapegoated, he just never was the striker we should have gone for. Everyone said it at the time, including Rodgers. However it seemed he probably faced the choice of no striker or take a big gamble with Mario. PC doesn't play so well when he doesn't have time/ players moving off the ball. Just look at the games when he was playing badly.

Priority one for me is a striker who can get goals but is also mobile and moves defenders around. Problem is who? I think a lot of our players we have now will improve if we get someone like that as it will enable the team to play more like last year. A lot of our players are technically skilled/ show potential for that style of play, but when the whole team has to step back because of no movement up front it affects the whole team.

Allen will still be here, probably as a squad filler next season, coming on in certain games. The rest of the players I agree with, although I think Ballo will be gone if we can get a good price for him.

Ironic isn't it - you complain about Rodgers not being like a top class manager by accepting players being forced on him/ not in control, and yet now you're saying FSG will be against him because he's not following their lead?!

As I said earlier I'm quite happy to do a £10 charity bet that Rodgers will still be given another season (unless next season falls apart early on in a very bad way).

I don't think there's anything ironic. BR knew the conditions he'd operate under when he took the job. If anything the only thing he isn't 100% in control of is transfers, but then this isn't unusual. Where he has identified players and brought them in, they've mainly not lived up to anywhere near expectations.

Many of our shortcomings this season had very little to do with not having the manager in control of transfers. The semi against Villa is a obvious example of this.

@OliverKayTimes: Twenty-five years today since Liverpool were last crowned champions. You would have been sectioned for predicting that in 1990

Makes me feel old too. Christ - we won it so often it was almost expected. I was 25 then.
