Just the same as Max Mosley was, managed to get re-elected even after Zee spanking Aryan episode as he had the support of the cronies.

Lets hope Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein causes a shock, somehow doubt it though. The guy just loves the job and thinks he is FIFA.

I wonder if any of the evidence generated by UK media has resulted in the current investigations.
Corruption, Blatter, flourished, leadership. - please rearrange as necessary.

For as little light relief, here is my favourite (sadly almost certainly apocryphal) story about Sepp Baltter.

Sepp is in Australia and is invited, as honoured guest, to a gala dinner by the Australian Football Association.

He is sitting at the top table next to the Australian President chatting away. A waiter comes around putting pats of butter on everyone's side plates. Sepp stops him and asks for a second pat of butter.

"No mate," says the waiter. "One pat of butter per person."

Sepp is incensed. "Do you know who I am? I am Sepp Blatter, President of FIFA and guest of honour at this dinner. I am the most important person in football and run the sport around the world. I want two pats of butter."

"Oh, right mate." replies the waiter, seemingly impressed. "Do you know who I am?"

Sepp is confused. "No..."

"I'm the guy who's in charge of the butter. I say you get one pat."

LOL, the "INDEPENDENT ETHICS" Committee has spoken:

http://www.fifa.com/governance/news/y=2015/m=5/new...

"Independent Ethics Committee bans 11 individuals from football-related activities

On the basis of investigations carried out by the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee and the latest facts presented by the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, the chairman of the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, Hans-Joachim Eckert, today banned provisionally 11 individuals from carrying out any football-related activities on a national and international level.

The decision was taken upon the request of the chairman of the investigatory chamber, Dr Cornel Borbély, based on art. 83 par.1 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.

“The charges are clearly related to football and are of such a serious nature that it was imperative to take swift and immediate action. The proceedings will follow their course in line with the FIFA Code of Ethics,” said Chairman Eckert.

The banned individuals are: Jeffrey Webb, Eduardo Li, Julio Rocha, Costas Takkas, Jack Warner, Eugenio Figueredo, Rafael Esquivel, José Maria Marin, Nicolás Leoz, Chuck Blazer and Daryll Warner."

"FIFA welcomes actions that can help contribute to rooting out any wrongdoing in football. We understand that today’s actions by the Swiss Federal Office of Justice on behalf of the US authorities and the Swiss Office of the Attorney General (initiated by FIFA through the submission of the file on the 2018/2022 FIFA World Cup bidding process) relate to different matters.

We are pleased to see that the investigation is being energetically pursued for the good of football and believe that it will help to reinforce measures that FIFA has already taken."

Just seen Blatter addressing the FIFA conference.

What a load of pompous rhetoric. The arrogance of this conceited man is breathtaking.

No real shock about either though, He has bought more than enough votes over the years. I would love UEFA to uphold the threat and Boycott Russia but they won't.

Well done Prince Ali for giving it a go but.... entirely predictable result. FFS. rage

After everything that's happened the very fact that the (near two thirds) majority of the FIFA delegates could vote to maintain the status quo just tells the rest of the world all you need to know about their stinking organisation. No credibility whatsoever now.

Time for Visa, Coca Cola and all the big sponsors to do their own voting with their feet now.

Well done ?? His speech seemed written by Blatter's camp.....

Latest discusting news (L'equipe) is that the French FA voted for Blatter. Why; becuase according to Nöel Le Graët, president of the FFF, FIFA gave them the womens WC of 2019....

The whole organisation needs to be replaced, too many countries are beholden to Blatter so change seems impossible given the current structure. I am not convinced that Platini offers anything better.

Difficult to achieve with the amount of money FIFA generates and spreads its wealth.

Africa gets the biggest block of votes; delegates vote for presidency yet is beholden to handouts and has corrupt administrators.

The African and Asian federations are hardly going to vote to cut off the hand that feeds their own pockets.

As John Motson pointed out on MOTD on Saturday, FIFA has been pretty much a corrupt farce since 1974.

I don't think even the FBI is big enough to take it down or make much of a dent in it's shady dealings.

A telling final sentence in that Mail article... "Platini has called together his top brass to decide what action to take in the wake of Blatter’s victory, but it is clear there is no prospect of a World Cup boycott" frown

Wow, didn't see that coming, thought he would do anything to stay in power. It will be very interesting to see what they have on him now.

You can bet your life there's something. I do hope that the magnitude of both the 'something' and the resultant consequences are of a magnitude in keeping with the level of arrogance he's displayed this far. If he had any alternative, he wouldn't be going anywhere.
