Just reading about Fletcher and his Lambo http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3007399/Fo... and Bale getting hassle in his Bentley, in the KOP yesterday was a "share the wealth" banner and in general their is unrest over finances as tickets go ever higher, SKY costs more and players get more - whisper but is a revolution under way.

What do you mean by a revolution? What action/s are you talking about?

The subject of "class" has popped up in the Liverpool thread.

I think this just about sums it up for me.

Fletcher has achieved almost nothing in the game and is pictured taking delivery of an Aventador. Cantona won...quite a few things, was wealthy beyond almost all aspirations yet drove a Toyota Avensis...

He only gets £40k per week? Hardship.

The Premier league pays way too much money for poor players.

I don't think there is a revolution underway, crowds are still flooding into grounds to watch games. Yes there might be a few banners but its not really doing anything. The only way you could say there is a revolution is if fans start to boycott games, refuse to buy season tickets and dont travel to away games, but that will never happen.

On the Bale issue the Real Fans just dont like him and why he has been booed over the past few weeks.

The Fletcher issue will continue to happen as there will always be players somehow cheating a living, but with the money flooding in then it will happen alot more.

The only way a revolution will occur is if it driven by the Premier League themselves, or the TV money dries up but with the recent deal that has been signed its wont be for a while.

Where would you prefer the money went? The players who fail to perform are overpaid but better their than disappearing into the club owners pockets.

Also noting as a side that it was Liverpool FC who refused a reciprocal ticket agreement with Newcastle and are charging £52 for restricted view away tickets, a good start for any 'sharing the wealth' scheme would be a Premiership-wide cap of £20 for all away fan tickets.

£52 FFS!

The examples of players flaunting their wealth are far less prevalent than 3 to 5 years ago, their PR people are way better at briefing them and keeping these sort of issues out of the press.

As for people boycotting games I think It's going the other way.

The marketing of the premiere league ensures most games are at or near capacity, they can and will introduce play offs, mid season breaks where the teams will still play but abroad, the 39th game is a given and in time we will see teams from the US regularly playing Prem teams.

Football is only going one way and that is up.

From small acorns, I really think they are pushing too high now but accept fans are their own worst enemy only yesterday we were offered over £300 each for our tickets outside the game and with hindsight I should have taken it - I mean who is that desperate?

Thomas cook have a deal with a lot of the popular clubs that they take spare capacity, chuck in a hotel room and charge £500 - people pay it - madness.

Games are enthusiastically awaited, talked up endlessly but seldom do they deliver the anticipation.

Fixed that for you wink. The TV money has corrupted the game in this country beyond belief (or recovery). Supposedly 'the best league in the world' can't produce a national team capable of getting out of group stages in major tournaments and club sides not able to get beyond the QF stages of the 2 european cup competitions (...meh). At the same time the money is attracting lots of mediocre players from all directions to further dilute the level of quality. Yes there are world-class players in the PL (Agüero etc.) but only a select handful of clubs (probably only 2 or 3) will ever be in a position to sign them. My club is upper Championship level, pushing to go up, yet a popular phrase used recently on our forums was that we were going for 'relegation to the Premier League' laugh, which sums up the feeling of much of the fanbase.

Germany, with it's £10 tickets, full stadiums and world cup winning side is laughing at us.

The whole culture of German football is different. Fans care about country over club, unlike England. I'm personally not that bothered about England, I just want my club to succeed. The Bundesliga isn't actually very good most of the time, with Bayern Munich pretty much dominating it and the odd other team like BVB or Schalke making brief challenges. Unlike the PL, BM walk thru most games. Think they won 7-0 this weekend. Unlike here, where Chelsea have to struggle to beat Hull and Leicester give everyone a hard game.

Also, safe standing means they can get 100K crowds at BVB and Munich so that helps with ticket prices.

I accept most of your post is an opinion but the two facts you quote are incorrect.

Bayern Munich LOST 2-0 this weekend and there is no stadium that has a capacity of 100,000.

hehe He might be getting confused. Bayern won 8-0 in February and also beat Shakhtar 7-0 in the Champions League recently.

Thanks I forgot about the Sky Sports hehe Your very correct in the fact that while we can attract world class players these clubs (Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U/City) are only having to complete with a few top European clubs to secure talents. The big issue is with the rest of the clubs in the premiership and even some championship clubs being able to offer very good wages for players which far outweigh what clubs in Germany/Spain/France/Italy can offer so they go where the money is.
That's why we wont ever have a decent national team.

I think the issue is too far gone for anyone to do anything about. With the money piling in from TV it will only ever go up. The recent deal dwarfed the previous one by a huge amount.

The Germany model is different because the fans own part of the clubs and the clubs do not put up the prices. Bayern Munich made a point to say why should they increase the price from 100 Euro to 300 Euro when it only generates an extra 2.5million but to them its nothing. With the additional TV money the clubs could all cut ticket prices substantially but they wont.
