Good moves, hopefully you can change the balance of time split between good and bad phases.

This is the first one of your blogs i have read, but i will definitely be going back to read some old ones as soon as i finish this post.

I think everyone has the sliding doors moment, i still remember failing my 12+ exam (i am now 39) and my parents appealed against my wishes. As i was close to the pass mark i was accepted to the grammar school where i was always struggling at the bottom of the class, also being the youngest and shortest gave me real confidence issues which i still struggle with today.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but more to let you know there are other people that feel similar even if they don't tell you. i have never told anyone what i have just written, including my wife (now ex-wife).

It is incredibly difficult to let go of things like this, but maybe people aren't meant to, maybe they stick in the mind so we can bear these in mind for future.

I am waffling a bit now, but i am certain you are having a positive effect on people that are reading your blog. You have helped me share something that i have kept secret for 27 years after reading just one of your blogs and i thank you for that. I look forward to reading your other blogs and i hope you keep well and please keep us updated with how you are doing

I've been reading your blog and in my opinion a really interesting read as it opens up a side of the game not many people get an insight into. If writing helps you with your depression then write as much as you can.

On a complete side note your Wikipedia page is more detailed than a celebrity. Did you write it?

After reading that I'm fairly sure I've seen you play a few games. I know it doesn't help reading on a forum but your the victim of some really bad management and shouldn't be so hard on yourself. I'm guessing you were at Bradford at the same time as Colin Todd.

If your ever near Sheffield please pop in for a coffee, I'd be great to talk some more.

You should be proud to only have 3 things in your career where you took the wrong path, I've got way more than that. I could list them all, or perhaps just the top 20!

Seriously, all you can do is look back and laugh at your mistakes, not beat yourself up over them. I always say you only get one chance to fk up your life, and I grabbed mine with both hands! hehe

I can look in the mirror and know I've made some major cock ups, but at least I think the bloke looking back is a decent human being.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

I have no idea who wrote it but from what I can gather it was done by someone using press reports. It’s nice someone took time to catalogue my failures mixed in with the odd success laugh

I was, not a man I had an issue with, the club was in a funny time when I was there post premier league years. I didn’t do myself justice but looking back I had a few issues!

I think I am a decent human and that counts for a lot in modern society. I concur with your last statement also.

Probably quite a rare view in the modern world but the words decent, human and society show something that even your challenges can't undermine.

My life motto is "never have regrets as you can't change the past" which I know can be seen as an easy thing to say but it is fundamentally a truism.

I have been reading them in date order and there have been a number of bits that i have agreed with, but i cannot agree with this part

"Maybe she wouldn’t have grown tired of propping me up on a daily basis. I will never know now. She deserves better than I can give" (June 2015)

I think the last sentence is backwards, if she grew tired of propping up someone with depression then she does not deserve better than you, you deserve better than her. People are willing to do anything they can for 'the one' including things that are detrimental to themselves, if she wouldn't do that to help you, she maybe wasn't the one, the one, is still out there for you...

Wow, great to see football making such a positive impact.

As you post these for constructive feedback, I'm not sure about the phrase "mass genocide". I think "genocide" on it's own pretty much covers it.

That's ace, it doesn't matter about scale, positively affecting one or more is what's important.
