I always quite admired the way Utd always had a core of British talent. Some of it was brought through, some of it was bought, but at least it was there.
In only a few short years it's pretty much gone.
There are 13 English players named in the current squad. In only a few short years it's pretty much gone.
In the squad that won the treble there were 17 english players.
So down but not gone.

The game has changed and the quality of English players has diminished alot. Also the price of English players has shot up and very overpriced. In only a few short years it's pretty much gone.
Look at Sterling....had a couple of ok seasons at Liverpool suddenly he is worth £50m? Becomes cheaper to look at proven foreign players.

Next season it'll be what, 2?
There will always be Brits in squads because of the home player rule thing.
I think there are a few clubs that have shown that British talent is there and can be developed and brought through, but as some have said you pay a premium (see home player rule).
Then again you're about to spend 100m on a player. Could get quite a few decent Brits in for that!

I meant starting 11. Fergie always seemed to have 4-6 Brits.

Depends.Next season it'll be what, 2?
Shaw, Rooney, Rashford, Smalling, possibly Carrick.
Rashford is bench material now unfortunately.
What do you guys assume is the starting 11, assuming Pogba comes in?
I was thinking something like
DDG
Darmian - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
Pogba - Schniederling/Carrick??
Mkhi - Rooney - Martial
Zlatan

Not sure how true but aparently we've made 76 million off Zlatans shirt sales alone already...
If true, that is staggering!
Very, seen that myself If true, that is staggering!
His wages are certainly paid for ..although always been curious about these figures, new kit out so surely they were gonna buy one anyway only they have chosen ibra's name maybe ahead of someone elses??

These are the TOTAL shirt sales by club in 2015 WORLDWIDE.
Bear in mind most of these will be via third party retailers (Sports Direct, JD sports etc) A team will get LESS than £10 per shirt. The top selling United shirt last year was Rooneys. 13% of sales. that is less than 400,000 shirts or £4 million income (not profit)
So unless more than 7.5 million Zlatan shirts have sold (they haven't) the figure of £76 million is not true.
FC Barcelona 3,637,000
Bayern Munich 3,312,000
Chelsea 3,102,000
Manchester United 2,977,000
Real Madrid 2,866,000
PSG 2,212,000
Arsenal 2,055,000
Atletico Madrid 1,977,000
Juventus 1,678,000
AC Milan 1,287,000
