The Official Manchester United Thread [Vol 5]
Discussion
Just in case people didn't know already the game tonight is available to all on freeview:
From MEN (not linking it, it opened a skybet ad which might be NSFW for some...I'll be expecting a call from HR later )
"The match between Manchester United and Fenerbahce kicks off at 8:05pm and is being broadcast live on BT Sport 2 and BT Sport 4K UHD .
If you’re not a BT Sport customer though do not worry, the game will be shown FREE on BT Sport Showcase which is available on Freeview channel 59 and can also be streamed from the BT Sport website. "

As has been often been repeated, Liverpool's problem appears to be a lack of a "plan B".
TBH, when one team just defends in force for the entire game there is very little you can do. Alpinestars said:

Interesting ,I recall on about 35 minutes the stats flashing up showing united had 53-47 posession and actiOn areas as being 23% in liverpools box,4% in uniteds.
Spot on. jammy-git said:
The first 30 minutes or so were quite even, largely down to our poor passing. The remainder of the game was largely Liverpool, hence how we ended up with 65% possession.
And you produced 0 decent chances, reminiscint of united under lvg when teams literally parked the bus ,but it was uniteds fault for not breaking them down, but in this instance it seems it was uniteds fault for parking a bus apparently. We had at least 2 fantastic opportunities for goals which took two Worldly saves to keep out. We then had another 3 or 4 chances that were ruled marginally offside or took last ditch tackles to stop. Against such a heavily defended game I don't think that's a bad number of chances to have.
I think "blame" is shared. Personally I wouldnt be happy that if my team had decided just to park the bus, but at the same time it's frustrating not to be able to make it past that bismuth

Harry made 11 or 12 interceptions IIRC.
There is a difference between parking the bus/defending and stopping the opposition from playing the way they want to.
As above, no plan B.

Even in what sense? The same sense it was even in the end? ie, NIL NIL? You created virtually nothing, at home, against a "struggling" team, and with a team that is hailed as a great one.jammy-git said:

fantastic opportunities ? A 35 yard effort and a bumble into the box with a good shot through defenders legs does not constitute fantastic opportunities, zlatan's header was a good opportunity and that was it in the whole match.I think "blame" is shared. Yes he was faced against teams costing 400 million who parked the bus
Fergies % stats are rubbish compared to Sir Bob Paisley anyway
I hear Paisley is part of the Ancient History curriculum. Pretty sad when you have to go back to the last millennium - actuall, it's not sad at all. Fergies % stats are rubbish compared to Sir Bob Paisley anyway
SIR Alex knocked you lot off your perch.
Enjoy your European game tonight. Oh wait up, you were too st to even finish 7th last year. Long may it last.
