Surprised at those subs - would've taken Young to left back and taken Shaw off.
C'mon Reds!

Shaw has looked good in the second half (showing I'm an idiot). Young was quiet.

Don't really know how to take that defeat. We had all the ball, but I think that was given to us, to an extent, rather than won outright. No threat up front though remains a worry and little idea how to create a real chance.

Strange going into matches though and not really being bothered about the result!

Positive from this game - the centre backs have both been excellent.

We're playing alright but it's a shame we couldn't make the most of it. Can't stand the frustrating Chelsea bus tactics but you can't deny it works.

We were jumping around the pub for a good 20 seconds before somebody shouted he missed. hehe
So was De Gea!
I am de Gea. biggrin

We played better, Mourinho's bus won. Spirited loss, shouldn't be too damaging hopefully.

Agreed.

Not a result that says much.

We were massively under strength and Mourinho fluked it with the tactics you expect from a lesser side. A lucky win.

Better but not quite good enough.
City may reckon on overtaking us soon. Two easy games and we are at Goodison.
Be nice to get a win there.

Feeling strangely flat. Only lost 1-0 to one of this season's much better-performing teams but even so, we really went out with a whimper.

Not sure that's fair. We had the better of the game despite being seriously weakened by injuries.

A bit of luck and we would have got a draw.

Falcao looked tolerable - still poor but far better than usual.

Jose has been doing that for years...I don't quite think you can call it a fluke any more!

Games like today are what make Jose the great manager he is. He can stick to the bus tactics and scrape a win but when he needs his team to really being an A* class performance he can get that out of them aswell. It's hard not to like him to be honest. I was 100% certain when he said he was coming back to the UK it was to be Fergie's replacement.

Jose's game plan, soak it up and wait for some Hazard magic. Round one to Jose.

No surprise there; against a strong/stronger side you just know what he's going to do. Mourinho's nickname should be changed from "The special one" to "The weasel".

Some statistics from the net:

Chelsea - Man. United
Ball possession 28 % - 72%
Off side 1 - 3
Total shots 1 - 8
Shots on target 1 - 2

? Didn't say it does. Chelsea have been the least bad of a terrible bunch this year.

Spot on. When you guys won the league 2 yrs ago, you were the worst team ever to win it. But I think we may take that title off you this season.

I think you're being hard on your team. They played some good football at the start of the season and through to Christmas. It turned into another poor season in terms of quality after Christmas though.

At least the relegation battle is hottting up.

Fair point. Several teams, including Utd, have hit championship form for a run. Chelsea deserve the title because they have dropped barely any points even when playing poorly. And Chelsea's good run was fairly long, too.

Any one of Utd, Chelsea and City could be very good next season with some sensible buying.

I remember in his first tenure Jose made 1-0 a bit of an art form. It may not be pretty but fair play he does win games.

As for us, it's never nice to lose, but losing our metronome and 2 other important players I think we still gave a decent account of ourselves. We've come an awfully long way under Van Gaal when we go to Chelsea understrength and feel a bit flat at losing 1-0.

Not just a decent account of ourselves, a very good one. Our chances on goal weren't great but we looked like the team at home on top of the league most of the game. Says a lot from last season, progress is immense now LvG's st is sinking in.

A side note: the atmosphere was fking shambolic. Pathetic.
