No surprise there; against a strong/stronger side you just know what he's going to do. Mourinho's nickname should be changed from "The special one" to "The weasel".

Some statistics from the net:

Chelsea - Man. United
Ball possession 28 % - 72%
Off side 1 - 3
Total shots 1 - 8
Shots on target 1 - 2

Those stats don't tell the whole story though, you could play 38 games with stats like that, but unless you change the last one that I have added, you`ll be playing in the Championship the following year.

Not just a decent account of ourselves, a very good one. Our chances on goal weren't great but we looked like the team at home on top of the league most of the game. Says a lot from last season, progress is immense now LvG's st is sinking in.

A side note: the atmosphere was fking shambolic. Pathetic.
Chelsea wouldn't have set themselves up, or played like that if it was earlier in the season. They're counting points now towards the mathematical league title. If it was say game 10 of the season, then I think they'd have been more positive and the game would've been different.

Can't help feeling that Rooneys early effort would've swung the result in our fsvour as they weren't set up to win the game from behind.

If you played 38 games like that then you'd win a huge majority of them. Sometimes you do everything right and lose a game and sometimes you do everything wrong and win a game. If Chelsea played like that every week, then they d be the ones facing the Champinoship next year, as not every team would be so wasteful with their opportunities.

Those stats are incorrect though. The 30 sec highlight clip on SSN showed at least two shots from Chelsea for a start, the Hazard goal and a shot from Drogba.

Although it was a foul on him in the build up to Chelsea's goal,I thought falcao was woeful, his effort was commendable but he made life so easy for the chelsea defenders.with roomey upfront we would have won that game.
We were so poor in and around the penalty box though ,can't complain about the result .

To be honest, I think Falcao played fairly well for him. That is his level.

he's not the player he was ,but he was trying too hard, chasing the ball in all the wrong places, made life too easy for their centre halves.

A striker who can take the last defender on is a must for next season.

Different sources have different stats; MOTD2 for instance showed possession stat of 30% - 70%

What doesn't change is that they all tell the same story.

Anyone remember when I said Liverpool were overperforming and don't have many good players? I got slated even by some Utd fans on here. Absolutely awful against Utd and they have just been comprehensively beaten by Aston Villa.

Whilst that may be true, at least we didn't presume we were in the final before we'd actually got there.

Form is temporary...

Liverpool have a lot of very very average players, and that always catches up with you in the end!

You were calling Shaw dogst yesterday and now your crowing about the scousers getting beaten in a semi we were nowhere near.

Its always fun seeing the scousers getting beaten but you are coming across a bit silly (not for the first time)

Fair cop. Not very classy. I apologise to the Liverpool fan(s).

I am desperate for Shaw to prove me wrong, and performances like yesterday are a damn good start.

Good news on Depay. We are so light on quality. Look beyond our best 14 players and it is pretty rough.

beer Fair comments guys, It just seemed odd you gloating about us going out in the semi's due to having 'crappy players' when you went out 1-2 rounds earlier lol, Incidentally I thought Shaw was your best player yesterday, Looked excellent going forward.

I only hope it doesn't contribute to Janujaz deciding to move on. I still hold onto a lot of hope for that lad. I would play him ahead of DM at the moment, as they both lose the ball about 10 times per minute, but at least J seems cocky enough to ride it out (whereas DM seems to be having an awful loss of form and confidence - it's painful to watch).

I think AdM's issues are coming from off the pitch. AIUI they are still in a hotel after the burglary and his missus won't return to the house. I'm hoping they can sort all that out during the summer, a settled wife and kids will allow him to focus and relax, Ive got no concerns that next season we'll see the player we were expecting (and saw at the start of the season)

Januzaj is a hard one, he looked awesome last season but its easy to shine when all around you are st.

I agree on both. DM was, and under it all must still be, world class. J has shone properly in flashes, though, and more than any other Utd youngster for a while.
