I know I should be asking this on the Scouse thread, but I'll just get called a troll.

1. Is anyone watching the match? I've heard more noise in a 5-a-side match at the local leisure centre. So much for the supposed Anfield atmosphere

2. Why do Sky Sports always televise the Walk On singing bit at the start, as if it it's some sort of major event? No other team is afforded that "honour"

I suspect its easier than dealing with the 1000's of emails from angry scousers claiming some form of conspiracy/anti Liverpool agenda should they not.

If you're on Twitter you should follow Rawk Meltdown. Very amusing.

I don't think they do show it usually to be fair. It cuts to adverts, but it didn't this time as it's the last home game before the Hillsborough anniversary so there was the minute silence and that cringe worthy YAWN crud.

Agreed about the atmosphere though, totes st.

It's always on and I have to mute the TV to shut it off.

If you'd have asked on the dippers thread it'd been your last post as it's the Hillsborough anniversary.

I've never noticed that before, only the adverts. I'll keep an eye out next time I've got no paint to dry out.

I take it you haven't noticed the tent in the tree over the road then.

i'm torn. Out of City and Liverpool, who would you prefer to get 4th spot? Obviously I want Southampton to finish strong and grab it but I can't see that happening sadly!

Without Europe the top clubs perform better. We're having a great season now, Liverpool did last year. As City definitely have title potential, then without CL, they are likely to run away with thenLeague next year.

I know Chelsea are walking it this year whilst having played in the CL but that's again down to City (in the main) and a few others chucking it away.

Of the two I would prefer City for obvious reasons but I cant help but think it would be great if they finished 5th. Especially after the amount of st I got off my mates after the Moyes champions to 7th saga, would love to return the favour!

COME ON SOUTHAMPTON biggrin

Loon, are you thinking about getting a season ticket(s) again? smile

As far as choosing City over Liverpool, I can certainly see your logic, not sure I agree that they are "likely" to win the league though. But my own view is based more on the emotional side of things. I have friends and deceased family members who are/were City fans and I quite like them (my friends and family that is) and being a Manchester based team I have to pick them over one from Merseyside...right?

I would agree though with the previous poster....COME ON SOUTHAMPTON!! biggrin

No champions league would hit City's recruitment this summer. I doubt Liverpool can afford a big spend due to stadium redevelopment.

So like everyone else, come on the Saints!

You say that but we brought some world stars to OT without the lure of CL football. Wonder if FFP may hurt them again? Certainly by the looks of them they need to recruit.

No chance of me getting a season ticket again. I'm done with match days. If I'm honest I'm too busy to watch some of the weekend games on TV and it's quite a challenge to squeeze them in!

We have tradition as do Liverpool (somehow!). City are trading on mega wages and possibilities. They'll still attract players, but FFP will curtail their spending.

We've probably all got one, but one of my City loving friends told me that he fully expected City to beat United on a global stage what with the financial power and the infrastructure that they are building with their academy etc. This was earlier this season before our recent good form and of course after last seasons debacle.

Surprisingly he's gone rather quiet now. biggrin

Exactly. We can still attract big players because of who we are and the prestige of playing for us. City are a million miles away from that and only attract mercenaries who come for money, not the club. I think that's partly why some players look like they don't give a st when things are going badly.
